Happy Pisces New Moon! This is one of the most spiritual times in the lunar calendar, one when we turn away from the noise of the world to get still and reflect upon our lives. Pisces is a sign that connects us with the energy of compassion and forgiveness. It’s healing, mysticism, music, art, and dreams. Over the next four weeks we’re searching for meaning and pulling back the veil. That said, the new moon is exact on March 6, 2019 at 11:04 am EST, 15 degrees Pisces. That’s 8:04 am Los Angeles, 4:04 pm London, and 3:04 am in Sydney on March 7.
When we reach Pisces, we’ve reached the end of the zodiac. It’s the last sign, the one that helps us to leave behind the physical — our bodies, our possessions, even our connection to reality — and prepare for the next world. It’s the last water sign, too, which is to say that it brings us full circle. We are born from water and to water we return.
A Pisces New Moon is an invitation over the coming four weeks to take a subjective look at our lives, as if floating above. Suddenly all the stress and material concerns don’t seem as important. Instead, what matters is the heart as well as the soul. We value connection and empathy over meaningless experience and attachment.
With that in mind, it’s a lunar month to let go and find compassion. It’s a month to forgive and seek healing. It’s a month to rest and retreat, to meditate and find spiritual meaning and purpose. With a square to Jupiter in Sagittarius, this is a month that plays heavy on meaning and truth.
The new moon also makes a close conjunction to Neptune in Pisces, a hazy, ethereal influence that may take us to spiritual highs as well as lows over the coming weeks. Neptune can be a tough influence only because we can’t bring our egos to its energies. It touches on themes on surrender and the realization that for all our wants and desires, there are greater forces than us at play. It’s a month to let the current take you instead of swimming against it.
That said, we can’t completely lose our connection to solid ground this month. As much as we’re flowing with Neptune, make sure you have a tether to something solid. (Thankfully the new moon makes a sextile to Saturn in Capricorn.) Neptune can sometimes show us a reality that is not reality because it is a projection of our deepest desires. It can speak to illusions, deceptions, and even lies. Mercury is retrograde in Pisces after all. Make sure you’re getting the truth.
This may be an emotionally heavy lunar month. Neptune can flood us with feeling and overwhelm. All of our denser feelings may rise to the surface — our insecurities, our doubts, our sufferings — so that we can let them go in a stream of tears. Just make sure you’re being careful about substance this month as it can intensify some of these heavier feelings and catch us up in illusions.
Curiously, the new moon arrives just after Uranus’s transition into Taurus, a sign that it will spend the next seven years in. The tectonic plates of our lives are shifting and shaking. Something is profoundly transforming this month. Are we ready to surrender to the divine plan, which may be a bit different from our own plans?

Yes! I am ready … when Uranus was in Aries ..for me as a Cancer/Pisces it was dead on! I left an old career, I moved to another state, I found my true identity.. totally different than before 2011. Now i’m grounded and ready to make my voice heard here in my community, with my art, music and desire to keep NATURE front and center in my little town! Thanks for your work !
Am I reading this chart correctly, that both Virgo and Pisces are intercepted signs in the New Moon chart? What does that mean when the New Moon is *in* Pisces?
