Happy Taurus New Moon! This is the lunar month when we turn our attention to the ground beneath our feet. Taurus is the first earth sign and it teaches us all about the material world, from money and resources to food and anything we need physically to live. Taurus is also pleasure, sensuality, taste, touch, and an abundant world in full bloom. That said, the new moon is exact on May 4, 2019 at 6:46 pm, 14 degrees Taurus. That’s 3:46 pm Los Angeles, 11:46 pm London, and 8:46 am Sydney on May 5.
After the spark and fire of Aries, we arrive in Taurus, the second sign of the zodiac. If Aries animates life, then it’s Taurus that embodies and shapes it. The zodiac follows the seasons and it’s no coincidence that Taurus is fertility and flowers. Here, in the northern hemisphere, it’s spring. The trees are blossoming and it’s a renewal of life after the cold of winter.
Find Taurus in your chart and you too will find blossoms.
The Taurus New Moon is a reminder of not only the beauty of life, but the potential of it. It’s a new moon to plant seeds in the fertile earth so that we can tend to them and watch them flourish over the coming months.
It’s also a new moon that reminds that we’re physical beings. We need to feel safe and secure. We need to be held. We need to have a roof over our head, food in the pantry, and money in the bank. If that’s missing, how can we work towards creating that in our lives?
Taurus is a sign that, at its core, is about the preservation of life and the status quo. It doesn’t like a lot of changes because change creates uncertainty and instability. But it’s important to note that Uranus is now in Taurus, a planet that is anything but preserving the status quo. As much as we are digging in with this new moon, we’re also very aware that things are changing. The earth beneath our feet may be very different than where we were last May.
Change can make a Taurus anxious. Even if we’re not Tauruses, there’s a part of our chart that Taurus governs over. Be mindful that that corresponding part of our lives may be feeling a little shaky and anxious right now. The status quo may be changing, but remember that it’s a season that’s about blossoms and new life. Be open to whatever new beginnings are coming in with this new moon in that particular part of your life. (Read my Uranus in Taurus: Sign by Sign guide for more information.)
Speaking of anxieties, Venus in Aries, the ruler of the new moon, makes squares to Saturn, Pluto, and the South Node. Yes, there’s so much possibility with this new moon, but we have to face our fears around money, stability, and safety. How much of it is real and how much of it is inflated by anxiety?
In order for life to flourish — in order for us to flourish — there needs to be nothing in the way. Saturn and Pluto are making us work, digging into the earth and weeding out anything that’s preventing our seeds from growing. We also need to be very certain of ourselves over the coming days and weeks. We need to be determined to get what we need no matter what. (Within reason, of course.)
That said, we have a lot of support in this lunar month. While Saturn and Pluto square Venus, they also trine the Sun and Moon. Hard work pays off. We experience the abundance of life when we plan, build, and take responsibility.
In the meantime, enjoy the sweetness of the Taurus New Moon and Taurus Season. Life is meant to be enjoyed. Make time for pleasure this lunar month and do what you can to create a comfortable life for yourself.
