Happy Sagittarius Full Moon! This is the time of the zodiac calendar when the spotlight is on questions of faith and meaning. What do we believe in? How do we see the world? How do we see ourselves in the world? It’s also a time when we make decisions about education, travel, and learn the wisdom of our choices. The full moon is exact on June 17, 2019 at 4:31 am EDT. That’s 1:31 am Los Angeles, 9:31 am London, and 6:31 pm Sydney.

When we reach the sign of Sagittarius in our journey through the zodiac, we’re stepping into a more conceptual, worldly part of the zodiac. We can’t touch the things that Sagittarius governs over. Instead we’re in the realm of ideas. It’s things like philosophy, this sense that ideas can form something larger like ideology and a system of beliefs like religion. It’s also the sum of what we know and helps us find wisdom.

Ruled by the planet Jupiter, Sagittarius helps us to see the world beyond ourselves, to open our eyes, and discover a world where we have to make choices about right and wrong. It’s foreign travel and exploration, laws and morality.

So as we come up to the Sagittarius Full Moon, we may be feeling philosophical. We may be questioning what’s right and wrong. It may be a time when we have to demonstrate our wisdom. Or we may be planning a trip far away or focusing our efforts on education.

But at the heart of this full moon, like all full moons, is a decision. Caught in the light of the full moon, we see something for what it is. Full moons force us to react.

What makes this Sagittarius Full Moon different than previous full moons, for all of its natural optimism and sense of adventure, is that Jupiter exactly squares Neptune and Mercury exactly opposes Saturn. This is a confrontational full moon, but one that shakes our faith, challenges our wisdom, and demands we make a choice.

If you’re having a crisis of faith, if you’re doubting yourself or others, don’t be surprised. Neptune can blur at the edges. It can pull us down into the emotions we’ve been avoiding. It makes us more sensitive than usual.

Incidentally this full moon aligns with the Galactic Center aka the center of our galaxy. While I don’t use deep space points in my work, there is a potential for an “E.T. phone home” vibe with this full moon. (Am I dating myself as an 80s kid with that reference?) The galactic center aligns us towards the point in our galaxy from which life originated, the first point. The center of our galaxy is also home to a super massive black hole.

Your homework is to reflect on your relationship with faith and question what you believe in. Meditate and be present with what you’re feeling. Write out your thoughts and ideas. And, of course, don’t lose faith.

Feel your connection to our origin point like a thread running through time and space.

PS — We’re on the edge of eclipse season and this full moon puts us two weeks away from a solar eclipse. I’m teaching a webinar on Tuesday, June 25 at 7:30 pm EDT to get you all ready. You can still register to receive the video replay if you can’t make it live. Details and registration here.
