Happy Gemini New Moon! This is the time in the lunar calendar when we turn our attention to new ideas and new choices. Gemini is a sign that puts us in touch with the curiosity of life. For that it’s information and learning, communication and listening, travel and exploration, themes that will be front and center over the coming four weeks. The new moon is exact on June 3, 2019 at 6:02 am EDT, 12 degrees Gemini. That’s 3:02 am Los Angeles, 11:02 am London, and 8:02 pm in Sydney.
There’s a child-like quality to Gemini. It wants to try everything, often in pairs. As a result, we may feel like there are a million things we want to do this lunar month. While the purpose of Gemini is to help us to gather and take in new experience, it’s important not to overdo it over the coming weeks, especially since Mercury is in Gemini in the new moon chart and making a wide opposition to Jupiter. (Mercury is even out of bounds, if that’s something you follow along with.)
To that point, there’s a bit of a wild card energy to this lunar month. You know, the sense that anything can happen at anytime. Since we’re dealing with Gemini energy, it may come in the form of information out of the blue, information that challenges and confronts. (Mercury will make oppositions to Saturn and Pluto at the time of the full moon on June 17.) We may have to make a choice based on variables that suddenly change.
That said, Gemini gives us a sense of freedom, the freedom to try something new. And if the landscape is shifting this month based on new information and new ideas, then how will we have the courage to set off on a new path?
Another thing to keep in mind that this new moon makes a square to Neptune in Pisces, which makes for slightly messy energy. Yes, there’s a freedom to try new things this lunar month, but the presence of Neptune means that we need to have some awareness of what we’re doing, which is to say how what we choose and what we do has an impact on others. We have to have a sensitivity (Neptune) of what we’re saying and communicating.
Neptune isn’t a worldly planet. It’s otherworldly. It’s spiritual. It dissolves the boundaries between matter and the nonphysical. So just be aware of any illusions, seductions, or mirages this month. Or, use the energy positively for creative writing and art. Find your spirituality, your mysticism. Information is not always objective. Sometimes it creeps in as a feeling or reaches us in a daydream.
That said, it’s a lunar month filled with options, some of which may come out of left field. And since we’re on the cusp of eclipse season, anything is possible.
