Happy Full Moon in Virgo! This is the time of the year when we shine a light on health, wellness, craft, precision, organization, and purity. The full moon is exact March 16, 2014 at 1:08 pm EDT, 26 degrees Virgo/Pisces. The seeds and intentions we planted at the Virgo New Moon last September are now coming to fruition. At the full moon, there is a decision point, a revelation, and resolution as we prepare for the next lunar cycle.
With so many planets and points around 23-28 degrees, there’s a lot going on in the full moon chart, hinting that the next seven to ten days may be busy. To understand how things will unfold, we look to Mercury, Virgo’s planetary ruler, which has been wrapping up its stay in intellectual Aquarius. On paper, Virgo and Aquarius don’t have a ton in common. Virgo is detail obsessed to the point of myopia. Aquarius, on the other hand, is detached and able to see the big picture. But I’ve seen Virgo and Aquarius play well in the charts of engineers and scientists as they are able to take the vision of Aquarius and anchor it in the dedication and pragmatism of Virgo. Throw in a Saturn square to Mercury and this full moon is about not cutting corners, getting something right, and measured and cautious action.
Advanced Astrology Tip:
If you know your natal chart, and you have planets and angles at 26-28 degrees, the full moon will act as a trigger. You may see events come up over the next week that evoke the archetype of that planet. So if the full moon falls on your Jupiter, for example, there will be a culmination in matters of faith, higher education, and travel. A full moon making a square to a natal planet will likely be challenging while a trine to a natal planet will be supportive.
But the full moon is not all hard angles and the uphill climb of Saturn. Mars in Libra makes a supportive trine to Mercury in Aquarius, giving us drive and initiative. However, Mars is retrograde, hinting that it may take until July to see the extent of how current events will unfold. In addition, Mercury is in harmony with the lunar nodes at 28 Libra/Aries, encouraging us to stay focused and keep working out the details because it’s our path forward.
In all, it feels like this is not the full moon to get answers. With Saturn and Mars retrograde, things are still incubating and reworking themselves. If Aquarius is giving us insight and vision on a project, we will be tinkering with it well into June and July. Mars retrograde also means that this is not the time to take action. And as Virgo is the sign of health and wellness, this is the perfect time to attend to self care in advance of April’s cardinal grand cross. (And what says self care better than my upcoming astrology retreat Jamaica? Space is still available.)
