Mercury, on its way out of Scorpio, makes an opposition to Uranus, an aspect that can confront and challenge, but also awaken and illuminate. Conversations may be revelatory today. We may discover important information previously hidden.
This is Mercury’s final opposition to Uranus, a culmination of two previous oppositions that were exact on October 30 and November 19. When Uranus opposes Mercury, how we think, listen, learn and make choices must evolve. Sometimes the aspect can come like a bolt of lightning, a shock of words and ideas. As a result, we have transformed over the last month and a half.
That said, Mercury arrives in Sagittarius tomorrow, December 11, the final stretches of a retrograde that began on November 9, and a return to a sign that Mercury first entered on October 29. Again, it’s a culmination of events and experiences from that time.
Neptune also turns direct today at 29 Pisces, the last time it will do so in the sign for another 150 years, which is to say the last time in our lifetime. Thus begins Neptune’s homestretch in Pisces, a sign it first entered in April 2011 and again in February 2012.
Neptune in Pisces has been a great work, 14 years in total. Although subtle, we’ve seen our emotional and psychic landscape greatly change in the years following. Neptune represents our spiritual work and in Pisces we’ve made that work within the borders and boundaries between our physical and our non-physical reality. It seems that more and more have become interested in the esoteric and mystical, seeking and exploring new realities in order to shift what is no longer working.
For some, the previous years have brought great emotional and spiritual openings as well as greater compassion and the awareness that we are all part of the greater whole. But the other side of Neptune is illusions and deceptions. Instead of unity, there is more division. Neptune always demands deep work on the ego no matter what sign it is in. Perhaps we still have work to do.
Come January 26, Neptune leaves Pisces for Aries, one of the marquee events for the astrology of 2026. Along with Saturn’s arrival in Aries on February 13, we will see the cosmic clock switch hours in the next few months, pointing towards a sign — Aries — that is a sign of new beginnings, initiatives, and renewal.
