Happy Virgo Full Moon! This is the time of the lunar calendar when we make decisions in support of health, wellness, organization, service, and getting our lives together. Virgo is the unsung hero of the zodiac, making sure everything gets done. And, let’s be honest, we could all use a dose of Virgo in our lives. The full moon will be exact on February 22, 2016 at 1:20 pm EST, 3 degrees Virgo/Pisces. For those further afield, that’s 10:20 am Los Angeles, 6:20 pm London, and 5:20 am Sydney on February 23.
Virgo’s been getting a lot of air time lately, giving us a break from the relentless onslaught of Uranus and Pluto. And maybe that’s exactly what we need right now — a call for order and dedication after years of monumental shakeups and chaos. Maybe Virgo is our savior.
No one has ever confused Virgo for a savior (except if your closets needed reorganizing), but its no nonsense, pragmatic realism has been a breath of fresh air lately — especially since Jupiter arrived in Virgo back in August. Take your medicine, Virgo says. Honor your commitments. Show up on time. Get healthy. Stop screwing around.
That, my friends, is Virgo.
But when we look at the chart of the full moon, things are a little more complex. Why? The full moon is opposite Neptune, the planet designed to throw a wrench in all our carefully laid plans. As much as Virgo wants to be the boss of all the details, a Neptune opposition is a call for surrender; there’s a higher plan at work here.
It’s hard to let go and it’s even harder to let things get messy under Virgo’s demand for order. Therefore there’s an inherent tension in this moon between the needs to the physical versus the needs of the divine. Don’t be surprised if you get on your knees and beg for mercy.
We’re two weeks away from a solar eclipse in Pisces, one that will underline in bold this need for surrender, empathy, and redemption over the next six months. Think of this full moon as our last push to bring an editorial eye to our lives. What needs to be cleaned out? Where do we need a better system? What needs to be purified? Where can we be of better service? With Mercury in Aquarius, there’s an emphasis on humanity and the needs of the collective as well.
I think the big message around this full moon is that as much as we have a plan for the future, we need to open the potential for something bigger. We need to stop holding on, white knuckling it through spirit’s demand for evolution. What if we all just let go during this full moon and let the waters of Neptune in Pisces carry us where we need to go?
Time for a leap of faith.
