It was nice while it lasted, right? Like a party coming to an end, Jupiter will regrettably say goodbye to Leo and hello to Virgo. If Jupiter in Leo was all about fun, creativity, and self expression, Virgo, by contrast, couldn’t be more different. It’s humble, exacting, pragmatic … and loves a good spreadsheet. A party for a Virgo is organizing the closets by color and getting that kitchen tile squeaky clean. (Kidding!)

All joking aside, Jupiter in Virgo (August 11, 2015 to September 9, 2016) will show us opportunities for growth in service, organization, and work. Time to hone our craft. Time to get real. Time to get on our hands and knees and start scrubbing the grout with a toothbrush.

As the ruling planet of Sagittarius and Pisces, Jupiter is faith and prayer. It’s the sense that there has to be something beyond the four walls of what we know and see. It’s a leap into the unknown, meditation, spirituality, religion, a search for meaning, and what you believe in. Jupiter is travel — those journeys loaded with symbolism and quests for understanding of the world we live in. The coming year will open the door to making the mystical grounded in the physical world.

It’s also intriguing that at the same time Jupiter will be Virgo, Saturn will be in Sagittarius — Jupiter’s home turf. For those keeping score, Neptune is in Pisces, too, and there will be a push in September through October to find our footing spiritually; the three planets will be making something called a t-square. What’s the balance between matter and spirit? (My spirit guides call this Jupiter in Virgo time period as “faith in action.”)

Lastly, Virgo is the sign of health. Under Jupiter’s banner of optimism and growth, we’ll feel inspired to tackle diet, nutrition, and the physical body. Maybe everyone will really get into juice cleanses? Further, Jupiter is the guru. Expect to see a new crop of Martha Stewarts all showing us how to get more organized, eat right, and aim for perfection.
