Happy Gemini Full Moon! This is the time of the year where we turn our sights to writing, speaking, learning, news, and travel. Since full moons are decision points, we may be confronted with something that demands our attention over the coming days. And, in true Gemini spirit, we may be ready to broadcast our ideas or manuscripts to the public. The full moon will arrive on December 6, 2014 at 7:27 am EST, 14 degrees Gemini/Sagittarius. (That’s 4:27 am LA, 12:27 pm London, 11:27 pm Sydney.)
This is a complicated full moon. And just like Gemini, the sign of the twins, there’s two sides to it.
Full moons are already about duality; the Moon is in one sign and the Sun is in the sign opposite, highlighting the natural tension between the two. If Gemini gathers information, then Sagittarius employs it into something bigger, attaches meaning to it, and disseminates it to the world. But if Gemini is the free flow of ideas, then Sagittarius is those ideas codified into religion, dogma, and law.
When we break down the astrology of Gemini Full Moon, the ruler, Mercury, is over in Sagittarius along with the Sun. They are making a bit of a wide grand fire trine (aka a big equilateral triangle in the fire signs) between Jupiter and Uranus, sparking passion, ingenuity, breakthroughs, and awakenings. With that in mind, this is a get up and go, take your ideas on the open road, stand up for what you believe in full moon. Whatever we write, say, or think will have far reaching implications.
So on one hand there is enthusiasm and fire to this full moon. But on the other, it will fall just days before the sixth Uranus/Pluto square. And while Gemini is a sign that likes to keep it light and breezy, the energy right now is anything but. On top of all that, the full moon will hit a raw nerve in the form of a square to Chiron.
If full moons make things visible, a hard aspect to Chiron will lay bare our pain as well as our psychic and spiritual wounds. Chiron in Pisces is that gnawing feeling that despite all our compassion and good works, we are ultimately alone. There can be a rage at a god that has seemingly abandoned us or who lets bad things happen to good people. The days around the full moon will strike a well of emotional material that crosses time and space. Look no further than the news of late to get a taste of how deep this pain runs.
We can’t heal ancestral, generational, or collective wounds all at once. It’s a process. So if the full moon digs at the rough edges of emotional and psychic scar tissue, the prominence of Uranus (and Pluto by extension) will be an opportunity to leap out of the old narrative, come up with an innovative way forward, experience an unexpected breakthrough, and invent a new way of being. Never underestimate the power of Uranus and Pluto to lurch us into very different territory, sometimes quite quickly.
Ultimately the Gemini Full Moon will present us with a choice. Do we go left or do we go right? Both are equally valid directions. If you are at a crossroads in your own life, ask yourself — how can you bring consciousness and intention to your choice. How can you use Uranus and Pluto to heal or transmute some of your deepest Chironic pain? How can you choose breakthrough over breakdown. Whatever you choose, it will have far reaching implications.
