A comment I made on my Empowering Astrology Facebook about Pluto in Capricorn created more than a few questions. While this is not new news to some, I thought I’d take a moment and break down what’s been happening over the last few years and why things have been DEFCON level crazy of late.

Pluto (finance, banking, collapse) entered Capricorn (government, structure) in April 2008 and retrograded out in June. If you’re of a keen mind you know that the first rumblings of financial collapse happened in the spring of 2008 with Bear Sterns and Lehman Brothers, but things really got cooking when Pluto stationed direct on September 9, 2008, a week before the infamous stock market crash. Pluto entered Capricorn for a 16 year stay in November 2008.

I’m giving you this bit of a history lesson because it’s the foundation of what’s going on right now. It’s monumental when an outer planet not only switches signs, but goes into what’s called a cardinal sign. The last two times Pluto did this was the early 70s and the start of WW1.

On top of that, Uranus entered Aries (cardinal sign) first in 2010, retrograded out, and then entered again the day after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan of March of 2011. With Uranus (revolution) in Aries (the individual), it started to form what’s called a square (90 degrees) with Pluto. What this is doing is injecting this powerful energy of revolution and upheaval into the the collective. People have been rioting in the street, governments have collapsed, and nothing is as it was before 2010, let alone 2008.

But what does this all mean on a personal level?

If you are an Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn (or you have your Moon or rising in these signs), the last few years have probably been the hardest you’ve experienced. All corners of your life have been upended and you’ve had to do things in a completely new way. Remember that Pluto in Capricorn is all about collapsing structures? Why? Because Pluto teaches us that some things cannot last for ever. Even the monuments and structures built by Capricorn must come down eventually. So like this slow moving tidal wave, we’ve watched, often in horror, as the landscape around us washes away.

During the years of 2012 through 2015 we have what’s called the Uranus/Pluto square. There are seven exact contacts and we recently had the fourth square on November 1, 2013 and the next one will be on April 21, 2014. Like contractions preceding birth, the square is preparing us and ushering in a new life. And who said birth was ever easy?

Some of you are going through some really dark times. I know because I talk to you; you are my clients and we also have Facebook to interact. I’m giving you the low down on Uranus and Pluto not to strike the fear of god into you, but to give context to some of the massive changes that have been happening to you.

Four times a month the Moon travels through Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, triggering the Uranus/Pluto square. These are the days that tend to be harder because we have to confront, yet again, this process of death and rebirth, revolution and shift. You don’t have to commit harakiri if you realize that the Uranus/Pluto square will contact something in your chart. There is a powerful opportunity in this and I don’t say this lightly, knowing full well what it’s like to go through Pluto opposite my Moon and to emerge stronger than ever — but I had to glimpse hell to do it. Which herein lies the beauty and the pain of traveling through Scorpio and its shadows in order to emerge in Sagittarius, wisdom gained from the whole ordeal.

This process of revolutionary change doesn’t have to be unconscious. You can co-create with Uranus and Pluto, which means you can say, I want to use this energy for X or Y. This is a tough time no doubt and while there are things we cannot change, we do have free will. So what are you going to do with this time now that it’s here?
