Happy Aries Full Moon. This is the time in the zodiac calendar when we have to take action. Ruled by the planet Mars, Aries is all about the courage and drive needed to make a change, start fresh, set off in a new direction, or even go it alone. It’s also a sign that demands that we take action without hesitation. The full moon is exact on October 13, 2019 at 5:08 pm EDT, 20 degrees Aries/Libra. That’s 2:08 pm Los Angeles, 10:08 pm London, 8:08 am Sydney on October 14, and 10:08 am in Auckland.
An Aries Moon likes to hunt. It needs to have something to go after. It needs the thrill of competition or something that gets the heart pumping. Since full moons demand that we make a decision, we may be deciding to go after something that we want, especially within the realm of relationships.
Aries and Libra, its complementary sign Libra, form an axis of relationship in the zodiac. And when we have an Aries Full Moon, we’re negotiating the natural push-pull that happens in all relationships — a push-pull between desires, wants, and needs. Even as we make new connections this Libra Season and work on our relationships, the Aries Full Moon is a reminder that we can’t lose ourselves or lose who we are in a partnership. We still have to maintain a sense of individuality.
When I wrote about the Libra New Moon two weeks ago, I cautioned that we were entering a lunar month that would reactivate eclipse energies. October would likely bring a lot of sudden or unexpected events. Things could leave our lives or suddenly come in, which is what eclipse energy does. I also pointed out that October would be a month that would push us to work deeply on our relationships as well as ourselves.
This full moon brings all of that to a boil, so to speak. An Aries Full Moon is a demand. It can feel like an alarm bell going off somewhere in our life. We can’t be complacent anymore; we have to react. With the energy of the full moon pointing over to Mars in Libra, we want to react and take the lead, but we still have to deal with a relationship. It could even be a past relationship, something unfinished or unresolved. Mercury, after all, is getting ready for its retrograde.
What makes this full moon particularly demanding is its square to Pluto as well as Saturn in Capricorn. Where can set better boundaries? Hold others or ourselves accountable? How can we powerfully transform our existing relationships or even our relationship patterns? How can we find our power again?
Pluto energy has a tendency to purge or bring something to the surface that has been previously buried. It could be an emotion like a repressed anger or an energy. (Me? I’m breaking out in hives with this Aries Full Moon. Ugh.) That said, express or release what needs to be expressed or released. Mars is opposite Chiron in Aries. There’s something that we must heal that touches deeply in our soul.
There’s a silver lining in this full moon. For everything it’s digging up or the doors that may be closing, there’s an opportunity somewhere in all of this. The full moon makes a trine to Jupiter in Sagittarius. Maybe miracles do happen if we have faith.
So, be brave with this Aries Full Moon. Confront what needs to be confronted. Hold people accountable, especially for past abuses. Set off in a new direction. Take action. Go after what you want.
Also, if you want to learn more about Chiron and how to work with its soul healing energies, I’m teaching a 90-minute webinar on October 26 at 4:30 pm EDT called Chiron: Healing the Soul. In it we’ll learn about how this newer addition to astrology is a key to unlocking the soul’s higher potential in this lifetime. You can register to receive the video replay if you cannot attend live. Details and registration here.
