Saturn will be in Capricorn through December 2020, giving us three years to master life’s most important lessons — commitment, duty, and responsibility. We’ll be facing our doubts and limitations, all in order to build a solid framework for our lives. Saturn in Capricorn is the time when we all have to be the authority, the parent, the boss of a particular area of our chart. Aries or Aries Rising — Career, direction, status, the world. Saturn has reached the top of your chart, the highest, most visible placement. The next three years will push you to define your role in the world as well as your professional ambitions. Be prepared to work and take on responsibility. Don’t expect a lot of slack from Saturn, especially if career or commitment has been an area that you’ve struggled with. Your reputation will be on the line, so protect it and work hard to show the world who you are and that you are the authority behind the title that you hold. If you doubt yourself, Saturn will push you to face the obstacles that are preventing you from taking the next milestone in your career. If 2015–2017 was about education, then 2018–2020 will be about taking that education and putting it to work in your professional life.

Taurus or Taurus Rising — Travel, higher education, teaching, philosophy. You’ve been through life’s trials, you’ve faced yourself as well as your shadow, and emerged into the light. The next three years will push you to figure out what you believe in after all you’ve been through. Are you ready to put your faith on the line? Ultimately this is a time for you to prioritize your education and build a personal code of ethics to live your life from. You may go back to school or explore different philosophies and ways of seeing the world. Travel may also be a serious focus over the coming three years, especially travel to other countries.

Gemini or Gemini Rising — Finances, intimacy, sharing, the psyche. It’s time to face your fears, face your shadows, and work on strengthening your emotional connections. Capricorn is your 8th sign, a place where you descend into yourself so that you can discover the hidden you. As a result you’ll be mastering lessons in intimacy, sexuality, power, security, and trust in order to be reborn. Additionally, money and assets will factor into the coming years and you will feel Saturn’s push to get a handle on debt, create wealth, plan your estate, and, if you’re in a committed partnership, deal with the financial assets that you and a mate jointly share.

Cancer or Cancer Rising — Relationships, partnership, collaboration, other people. It’s a new season, Cancer, a time when Saturn turns you towards the relationships of your life. If you are single or casually dating, you may feel Saturn as a serious push to settle down and find a partner to share your life with. This may include moving in with a mate, getting into a major relationship, or making a commitment to a partner. If you are already in a partnership, Saturn will bring scrutiny to your relationship. Does it have what it takes to go the distance? Is there a healthy balance between you and a mate? Or does something have to be fixed? Even if romantic partnership is not something that is a priority or a need right now, Saturn will bring a serious review of how you cooperate and find connection with others. Relationships are a fundamental aspect of human life, driving many of our decisions. And when Saturn is in your relationship sign, it’s not about you, it’s about your responsibilities to others as well as learning to find commonality with a partner.

Leo or Leo Rising — Health, wellness, work, colleagues, day-to-day life. The devil is in the details as the saying goes and Saturn will put you to task over the coming three years. As a result, you may feel a big push to get a handle on your daily life, from committing to everyday rituals to creating a schedule for yourself. Saturn will teach you lessons about service to others and getting back to the mundane reality of life. Work and projects will be a major focus. Additionally, your physical health will be a priority and if you’ve neglected your body’s basic needs, it’s time to get back to basics, leading you to make a lasting change to diet and fitness. In short, Saturn likes plans as well as hard work, something you will likely be intimately familiar with until 2020.

Virgo or Virgo Rising — Self expression, creativity, children, leisure. What makes you you? What sets you apart from others? As a Virgo you’re used to putting others before you, but Saturn will change that tune for the next three years. It will be hard work, but you’ll be building a stronger framework of who you are and what you have to share with the world. Talents, creativity, and identity will be a priority as a result — anything that you can put your name on. Additionally children may be a focus and if you’re looking to have children, this may be a natural time for them to come into your life.

Libra or Libra Rising — Home, family, foundation, emotional connections. You’re in a new season, a new phase of life, one that is all about building a foundation for yourself. You can’t get more fundamental than home and family, the support for which everything rests on. Over the coming three years you may make a major move, plant down roots, build a home, or settle down. Capricorn is the sign that represents your roots, your ancestry, but Capricorn can feel like a hard sign, one marked by the duties and expectations of family. Make sure you are tending to what nourishes you on a deep level and allows the totality of your life to flourish.

Scorpio or Scorpio Rising — Communication, learning, travel, movement. There’s no doubt that you’re smart, Scorpio, but how smart? Are you ready to give your mind a workout? Over the coming three years you may be hitting the books or taking classes and workshops, all to keep those Scorpio senses sharp. You’ll also be working on your voice, from how you speak to how you write and listen. If you’re a writer, it’s time to get down to business. If you sing, how can you take your voice to the next level? Travel may be an important focus, too, especially short trips and jaunts around town.

Sagittarius or Sagittarius Rising — Income, stability, material life. Now that Saturn has moved out of Sagittarius, you’re all grown up. Or at least that’s the idea. Wisdom and maturity in hand, it’s time to turn your focus to the material world, namely your bank account, from how you make your money to what you spend it on. Saturn errs on the conservative side, so you may be thinking of how to cut back on expenses or at least consolidate what you have at your disposal. But the real purpose of this time is to create financial stability in your life, to make sure you’re rock solid on the basics — food, water, shelter. Saturn will not only love it if you set a budget, but sketch out a financial plan for the future. Value will also be a major theme and Saturn will show you what has value and what does not.

Capricorn or Capricorn Rising — The self, personality, vitality, new beginnings. Get ready to hustle, Capricorn. You’ve got a visitor for three years and it may feel like everything is under scrutiny. Under Saturn’s watchful gaze, you’re building a new framework for your life. Yes, Saturn is your ruling planet, which means that it’s right at home in Capricorn, but this doesn’t mean you get to sit back and relax until 2020. In fact, Saturn will be pushing you to become Saturn, which is to say become the authority, become the parent, become the person for whom maturity, responsibility, and integrity has been earned. If you’ve not been living in integrity, Saturn will quickly show you a new path. That said, you may feel like you’re getting older, getting more serious, and taking on more responsibility. You’re being held to a higher standard.

Aquarius or Aquarius Rising — Retreat, rest, recuperation, surrender, endings. You’re at the end of a cycle, a long journey that has arced across your life. As a result you may be feeling call to pull back, to reflect, to figure out what it all means after all these years. Over the next three years your spiritual life will be a priority and you will be building a framework for how you connect to the All, the Divine, the Universal. This may bring an existential crisis, a feeling that the things that were locked down and well defined in your life are suddenly not. Saturn, your ruling planet, is pushing you to find the things in the invisible worlds, the quiet space within yourself. Just let it all go, let the cosmic tide take you where you need to go.

Pisces or Pisces Rising — Friends, groups, community, society, humanity, the future. Who are your friends? What is your social circle like? With Saturn taking a discerning look at the people you’re allied with, you may be suddenly aware that the friends you have are not the friends to see you through life’s varied landscape. Sometimes Saturn in this part of the chart can make life feel a little lonely, as if you have your nose pressed against the glass, looking in. It is important that you find your people over the coming three years, which means working hard to build a solid social support network filled with true friends and allies. Community will also be a major focus, and you may be using Saturn’s drive to forge new connections, from groups to networking. Additionally this will be a very future forward time for you, one spent looking at your life from a wider view and figuring out where you want to take your life next.
