We’re adrift in a sea of Neptune this week. As a planet known for dissolving the boundaries between real life and spirit, things are hazy right now. It’s as if we’re not fully awake, instead moving in and out of a dream. We may even feel tired or emotional, too.
Although I’m used to navigating Neptune’s ethereal energies — it plays a prominent role in my chart — I have to admit that this slow square off between Jupiter and Neptune plus Mars’s conjunction to Neptune in Pisces is a little too much for me. Neptune, like current of water, can untether us and pull us away from solid ground. So, what do we do?
We don’t. That’s the issue. Frustrated that I haven’t had any energy, Spirit reminded me today that one of Neptune’s roles is to soften us when we become too hard. As a New Yorker with two careers, I’m used to being on the go nonstop and rigid in my schedule. Instead I’m floating through a narcotic-like haze. (It didn’t help that I was sick for two weeks. Now you know where your December horoscopes went.)
Neptune has a strong role in the upcoming Sagittarius New Moon, which means that we’ll be feeling Neptune’s energies strongly into the end of the month. It’s a time when we have to open up more. We have to let go of any rigid structures and strong attachments. We need to seek meaning. The dynamic between Neptune in Pisces and Jupiter in Sagittarius, in particular, is a search for meaning. Will we find it in philosophy, teachings, or religion? Or will we find it on our own in the quiet space of meditation and internal reflection?
I think it’s always important to be mindful in how we express Neptune. There’s drugs and alcohol level of Neptune. There’s spirituality level of Neptune. And then there’s Neptune as this force that helps us reach towards compassion, forgiveness, and unconditional love. Neptune in Pisces, in its best facet, is the return to unity and universality.
So just a heads up if you’re feeling like a space cadet. Try to rest if you can and try to spend time in water or on retreat. Capricorn Season, starting December 21, will bring us back to reality.

I really feel that hazy, fatigued aspect of Neptune right now. I’ve been trying to figure out what’s wrong with me. Looks like a good epsom salt, bubble bath is in order!
