Happy Scorpio Full Moon! This is the time of the year when the light shines on the things that happen behind closed doors — secrets, sexuality, shame, vulnerability. Scorpio is a sign that teaches us about power, the power to destroy as well as transform. As you can imagine, Scorpio is not an easy sign, but it’s a necessary one. That said, the full moon is exact on May 18, 2019 at 5:12 pm EDT, 27 degrees Scorpio/Taurus. That’s 2:12 pm Los Angeles, 10:12 pm London, 7:12 am on May 19.
Scorpio makes for a juicy writing topic. It’s everything that we’re not supposed to be talking about, from death and rebirth to facing your personal demons, your fears, your shame. There are times of the year, Scorpio Season for example, when we’re supposed to work through the energy of Scorpio. But this is the time of the year that coincides with the Scorpio Full Moon, which is to say that all these topics, intense as they are, are front and center.
It’s a full moon to air your dirty laundry, to spill your secrets, and to emotionally release. With Mars, the ruler of the full moon, in Cancer, we may be getting deep into the heart of something. Maybe it’s something from the past, from childhood, or even having to do with ancestry.
There’s an irony to Scorpio. For as much as it’s a sign about deep connection and intimacy, it’s a sign with a lot of trust issues. Is it safe to open up? To tell our secrets? To confide?
Whatever does come up with this full moon we have a lot of support from Saturn and Pluto, two planets combined that can feel like a wrecking ball. So, let those walls come down.
Curiously, there may be some surprises with this full moon or something out of the blue. Coinciding with Venus conjunct Uranus in Taurus, there may be something around the time of this full moon that threads its way through a story that arcs over the coming seven years. The astrology is saying, pay attention to this time. It’s significant. If you can, keep a journal of events that have happened this week.
Lastly, as full moons go, this one seems kinder than the previous ones this year. That said, it’s still a Scorpio Full Moon, a sign that’s not known for being light and fluffy. But it is a sign that’s known for keeping it real. Don’t shy away from real.
