Happy New Moon in Cancer! This is the time of the year when we turn over a new leaf in all things related to home, family, the mother archetype, and care. Not only is Cancer the sign that teaches us to nourish our roots but the importance of strong emotional connections as well. The new moon will be exact on July 15, 2015 at 9:25 pm EDT, 23 degrees Cancer. For those farther afield, that’s 6:25 pm in LA, 2:25 am in London on 7/16, and 11:25 am in Sydney.
Cancer really gets to the heart of the matter. Ruled by the Moon, it’s a sensitive sign that feels everything deeply. While this may strike some as a liability, it’s actually a quiet strength. If you’ve ever been cared for by someone with strong Cancer in his or her chart you know that it’s a nurturing sign that replenishes the spirit as well as the body.
That said, this moon will touch deeply on themes of feelings and emotional security. There may be a new beginning in your family or home or the need to find your tribe. Additionally you may be forming a new connection with someone over the coming lunar month. Perhaps even you will be stirred to replenish your heart after a rocky past couple of months . . . or years.
But here’s where things get complicated. The new moon will form a tight square to Uranus. If Cancer is the past and a need to preserve it, Uranus is the impulse to break free and sever from the old — two instincts that run deeply counter to each other. Mars, the ruler of Uranus in Aries, is over in Cancer as well and opposing Pluto. This will be confrontational energy with a touch of the unexpected, setting us up for a lunar month that will challenge convention and force us to look at things we’d rather not.
I know, you’re tired of complications and a Cancer New Moon such as this will make for messy emotions. With Uranus and Pluto in play, we’ll be covering a lot of territory over the next four weeks. Time will speed up, we’ll leap forward, make a break from the past, and we may even have a big decision to make
The good news is that we have a lot of support in the way of a trine from Chiron in Pisces and Saturn in Scorpio. Like a steady hand on the wheel, Saturn will help us navigate through the rocky road ahead. Chiron will provide us an opportunity to untangle deep knots in the fabric of our lives. Use this time wisely. Start fresh with your healing, take care of your emotional health, and open up a new chapter where you share your vulnerability and softness with those who matter the most.
