We started off the new year with a conjunction of Mars and Neptune in Pisces, a sort of listless slash spiritually existential line up. Maybe you were a little hungover (no judgement, especially after the year we had), but in its highest expression it means our actions are fused with the energy of compassion.

Truth be told, Mars and Neptune are a little bit of an odd marriage. Because Mars, at its core, is about taking action and often that action is for the benefit of the self. But Neptune is universality, spirituality, surrender. It’s the opposite of ego. Suddenly our actions are for something much greater – provided we’re not blinded by illusion or on a personal crusade.

Mars in Pisces has also been bumping around the South Node of the Moon, an emotionally charged placement that has pushed us to look at the karma of our actions, especially the times we asserted our will, waged war, and seized power at the expense of others. It’s also the karma of inaction and when we ceded our power to others or used substance as a means of cutting out.

With the Moon in Pisces today, things are quiet. We may be reflecting on the past and sifting through memories, too. Use this energy to meditate, reflect, intuit, and seek altered states of consciousness. Pisces is art and music as well. Use the Mars energy to create beauty and reconnect with the divine.
