Saturn gets ready to turn direct in Aquarius, a major check in with a story that’s been unfolding since 2020, one that speaks to building friendship and community as well as making new systems and networks.

While Saturn has a larger shared experience, it’s working us in a particular part of our life. For example, maybe relationships have been getting a workout (Leo). Or we’ve been trying to figure out what we want to be when we grow up (Taurus).

Wherever Saturn is for you, sign-by-sign, this is the weekend to show Saturn what you’ve learned, stepping into greater maturity and responsibility … or recalibrating and ending what is not sustainable. (Read Saturn in Aquarius: Sign by Sign for a refresh.)

When Saturn turns direct, however, it does so in a square to Uranus in Taurus, something that’s been a major feature in the astrology this year. It’s as if to say that all the systems and networks in our lives need a major upgrade in 2021. Sometimes we get a push (or a jolt) to do so.

Another metaphor I’ve been using to explain this dynamic square is that it’s as if we have one foot in a new life, one foot in an old life in 2021. Think of Saturn Direct as one of those moments where we have to take a big step forward into a new life.

Let’s not forget that we’ve got a few aspects to take us into the weekend. The Sun joins up with Mars today, which may be the start of something new or a time when we need to confront something in a relationship. Mercury also joins Mars this weekend. Tempers may flare. Conversations may be confrontational. We may have to look at something from the past. All in the spirit of finding resolution.
