Mars is on the move today, arriving in Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac. If Mars is the planet of action, individualism, drive, and power, then in Pisces it must put these energies at the service of something greater than the needs of the self.
Any planet that reaches Pisces has reached the end of a long journey. Perhaps it is more prosaic for the Sun, Mercury, and Venus, which reach Pisces roughly each year. Mars on the other hand, takes two years to circle the zodiac, which means that in Pisces, we are closing out a cycle that began April 30, 2024.
In Pisces, we ask ourselves great existential questions. What is the meaning and purpose of my life? What do I believe in? What is beyond this physical world?
Pisces may seem like an odd placement for Mars, a planet that is more at home in Aries and Scorpio, two signs that talk about our personal lives and desires. In Pisces, Mars has to learn to put aside the ego and transcend itself. It’s a work that may challenge us over the next six weeks.
Mars will also activate the energies of the Virgo-Pisces eclipses and the Pisces North Node. For example, Mars will oppose the degree of tomorrow’s lunar eclipse, 12 Virgo, on March 18, a time when the eclipse energy may be activated in our lives.
Between Pisces and Virgo, we will need to learn to take care of our spiritual lives as well as our physical lives, to detach, clean things out, and prepare for a new cycle.
