The Sun and Venus join up, a meeting that activates the energies of Capricorn. It’s a day to focus on our material lives — specifically money, resources, and assets — to make investments for the future and to recommit to what we value.
As I’ve been mentioning, all this Capricorn energy coincides with four planets in Capricorn point towards Saturn in Pisces, its ruler. A technical point, but an important point. More simply, we could say that Pisces is at the receiving end of the energy of Capricorn Season.
Capricorn is the sign of matter and the material world. If the zodiac is a ladder to climb or the wheel of life, then our time in Capricorn brings us to the larger framework of our lives, from what we have built to who we have become through time and maturity. It’s not just the sign of career, but the role that we play in the world and the titles that come with it.
Like all signs, there is a duality to Capricorn, which we see symbolized in its two animals — the goat and the sea goat. The goat represents our earthly lives and our attachment to matter … money, power, status, recognition, ego. The sea goat represents our ability to transcend our attachments to matter, to respect our material lives but not lose sight of our spiritual lives and our connection to Source.
I highlight this duality because, as previously mentioned, Saturn is at the end of Pisces (the two fishes) and Pisces is receiving the energies of Capricorn Season. There’s a duality to our experiences this season and certainly to the Capricorn New Moon to come on January 18.
On one hand, we need to take care of our earthly lives, which is always one of the messages each Capricorn Season and the New Year. On the other hand, we need to find a higher perspective. Saturn in Pisces has been a work to discover deeper purpose and meaning, to make peace within, and to put our material lives in alignment with our spiritual lives.
