Mercury in Capricorn joins in on an opposition to Jupiter in Cancer, just days after Mars. We may be in a tug of war between opposing points of view. Our words may be pointed and emotional. Work to find compassion and commonality to create powerful change.
No aspect in astrology is inherently bad or good. They can challenge or soothe, of course. It’s what we do with it that matters. The January 11 opposition between Mars and Jupiter is a heavy hitting one because it works along the cardinal signs — who we are, the lives we live, our relationships, our place in the world. It’s a push and pull between what we believe is right, between our convictions.
Mercury, which is at present part of a lineup of planets in Capricorn, activates this energy. Mercury opposite Jupiter doesn’t mince words. Combined with Mars in Capricorn, it is blunt, forceful, and perhaps even opinionated.
Keep in mind that all this points towards Saturn in Pisces alongside Neptune, a sign that naturally wants us to find a higher perspective and to seek out compassion. Not easy these days, but Pisces is always a call to go beyond ourselves.
2026 is the start of a shift, one that we began to prepare for in 2024-2025 as the outer planets point towards new signs. In two weeks, Neptune will arrive in Aries on January 26 followed by Saturn in Aries on February 13.
