The Astrology of April 13, 2026

Mars, newly in Aries, meets up with Neptune, a rendezvous that draws Mars into the ethereal energies of Neptune. If Mars in Aries is about the “I” and individual, Neptune is a force of transcendence. It’s a day to go beyond ourselves, to match our desires with our heart.

Every two years Mars circles the sky and meets up with Neptune. For example, the last time Mars and Neptune made a conjunction was April 2024. But what is exceedingly rare about today’s alignment is that it is the first time the two planets meet up in Aries in our lifetime. Yes, that’s because the last time that there was a Mars-Neptune conjunction in Aries was March 1874.

Over the next 13 years, Neptune will be in Aries, part of a larger shift in the sky that has included Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini. (Uranus will return to Gemini on April 26 after a four-month preview last year in 2025.) We’re in the early stages of a new era, one that will play out over the coming years if not the next two decades.

It’s hard to say what Neptune in Aries will mean for us. That’s because Neptune works on an ethereal level, not unlike the Moon. It works quietly in the background, marking ebbs and flows of great energetic tides. Unlike the Moon, Neptune has the power to completely transform that it touches, to elevate and beguile in equal parts.

Our experiences with Neptune in Aries will be uniquely personal, but we can look to Aries as a sign and archetype to give us clues. Will our relationship with power be completely transformed over the coming years? Will our desires come to match what is in our hearts as well as our souls? Will we remake ourselves, especially remaking the part of our astrology that Aries governs? Will we learn to let go? Will we be caught in Neptune’s illusions, fantasies, and self destruction? With Neptune, we cannot use our ego. Mars, a personal planet, is used to working at the level of the ego and the self. It’s raw and instinctual. It sets its sights on what it wants. With Neptune, we must transcend the self and rise to a higher level … without losing our grounding.

So, we are navigating the ethereal waters of Neptune today. Our dreams may be vivid. We may be feeling sensitive or navigating an emotional swell. Our intuition may be more powerful than usual. Whatever we are experiencing, it will plant a seed for our future experiences with Neptune in Aries over the coming years.
