Happy Scorpio New Moon! This is the time in the lunar calendar when we step into Scorpio’s emotional unknown. It’s the season where we embrace life’s many cycles of death, rebirth, and transformation. And it’s the season when we also embrace the dark and the light within. The Scorpio New Moon is exact on October 27, 2019 at 11:38 pm EDT, 4 degrees Scorpio. That’s 8:39 pm Los Angeles, 3:38 am London on October 28, 2:38 pm Sydney, and 4:38 pm Auckland.
The zodiac wheel is the wheel of life and, naturally, there has to be a sign that brings us to the threshold of life and death. After all, death is a natural part of life and although the “D” word may make us uncomfortable, Scorpio Season is a time when we have to feel this discomfort, this anxiety about loss and letting things go. But when we do let go and face our fears, Scorpio says, this is when the real magic happens.
Let’s not forget that Scorpio is a powerful sign and we may be navigating themes of power over the coming weeks — the power of life and death, but also the power of intimacy and sexuality, the power of money. It’s a sign that motivates us to create wealth in its many forms.
It seems counter intuitive to experience the renewal and new beginnings of a new moon through the lens of Scorpio. Nevertheless, new beginnings can’t happen until we have the courage to let something go, something that we may be overly attached to.
Scorpio is about clearing space and this is a lunar month when we need Scorpio’s sharp and unsentimental eye to discern what’s no longer good for us. As we clear away the deadwood of the past, we make way for something new.
This Scorpio New Moon brings us into a lunar month where we’re indeed clearing space for something new. But in order to do so, we may have to get outside of our comfort zone. See, the new moon makes an exact opposition to Uranus in Taurus. And if you remember your astrology, Uranus in Taurus is all about leaving what feels safe and familiar in order move closer to what we really value and need.
Think back to March 2019. What shook up for you? It was the beginning of a seven year story where a specific part of your life needed a reinvention. Fast forward to this new moon. We’re returning to a story that began in March. We need to take that next step in our Uranus in Taurus journey.
Uranus likes to shake things up. It’s awakenings and breakthroughs. It’s a need to cut ties with the past. It’s revolution. It’s also a wild card, bringing unexpected opportunities over the next four weeks.
With Mars, the ruler of the Scorpio New Moon, in Libra, this is still a lunar month that speaks to relationships in some way. Perhaps it’s relationships from the past or relationship patterns that needs to end. Mars also makes an exact square to Saturn. We’re turning a serious corner. We’re making major decisions. We’re moving forward by letting go.
So, expect the unexpected in the coming days and weeks. Once we have the courage to let something go — it could be our need to control everything, it could be a relationship, it could be something we thought we valued — life may move very quickly to bring us into alignment with something better. On the flip side, we need to have the courage to move towards something that we really want, getting out of our comfort zone in the process.
