Happy Sagittarius New Moon! A lunar month begins and we turn our sights toward religion, philosophy, faith, wisdom, and knowledge. Sagittarius is also the sign of journeys and exploration and we will begin this next chapter with our eyes toward the horizon, map in hand. Where will we go? The new moon will clock in on November 22, 2014 at 7:32 am EST, 0 degrees Sagittarius.
The interesting thing about the new moon is it precedes a shift in the astrological winds toward the sign of Sagittarius. For those keeping score, Saturn has been in the sign of Scorpio since October 2012. This has been a long descent into the dark; two years of death and rebirth and everything in between. We’ve lived some life, man, and we have the stories and the scars to prove it.
This is the whole point of the journey from Scorpio to Sagittarius, the sign following. In order to gain the wisdom and knowledge that Sagittarius is so famous for, we have to go through the often gut wrenching experiences of Scorpio, a sign that reminds us just how finite life is. But in the darkness comes a speck of light that grows bigger and bigger, leading us back to the world and toward Sagittarius.
Over the next two weeks don’t be surprised if you start waxing poetic about the ordeal you’ve been through. Maybe you’ll throw in a few tall tales about the journey. Sagittarius loves to embellish, especially with Jupiter in Leo. Maybe it’s time to start your book, no doubt filled will nuggets of truth mined from two years of life and loss. After all, Scorpio breeds philosophy . . . as well as gallows humor. And Sagittarius realizes that if it can survive Scorpio, it can survive anything.
There’s a strong notion of salvation in Sagittarius, the sign of religion and the preacher. This new moon will remind us of our unshakable faith and connection to something beyond this world. But if we’ve had our faith rocked after the last two years, the new moon’s square to Neptune will be the perfect energy to meditate, pray, and reweave the threads of that connection. Or shake your fist toward the sky as you air your grievances with your spiritual team.
As much as this new moon is a teaser of things to come, Saturn is still in Scorpio until December 23. We’re still straddling two worlds, one dark and the other of light. And with Jupiter square Saturn, there’s still immense pressure on us to wrap up this Saturn in Scorpio journey, tying up loose ends. In many ways, this new moon is the push we need to crystallize Saturn in Scorpio into a tenant of belief or a manifesto that will launch us into the next chapter of our life.
