Welcome to the Gemini New Moon, the time in the lunar calendar when we turn to the power of the mind. It’s a season to focus on learning and education, ideas and information. New moons are new beginnings. They bring in the energies of renewal and turn our attention to a new area of life. As Gemini is the archetype of the twins, we’re learning about the duality of life — day and night, up and down, etc.
What could be better to learn about the many expressions of this duality than to experience life in all its diversity. There’s a hunger and curiosity in Gemini Season. We want to try everything. And for that, Gemini is the sign of choice as well as the multitude of choice.
The coming four weeks are a time to go out and explore, trying new things, and making space for education and fresh perspectives. We’re booking travel or setting out on trips and journeys. We’re registering for classes. We’re reading books and enjoying conversation and exchange.
Despite this new moon’s breezy instincts, we’ve got Saturn to navigate. With Mercury, the ruler of the new moon, square Saturn, the coming four weeks puts our ideas to the test. Our choices have to hit a higher bar. We have to take on new responsibilities. We have to take our actions as well as our words seriously.
Saturn puts this into sharp perspective and it’s one of those planets you can rely on when things are clear or you’re not sure what way to go. Sometimes we know exactly what choice we have to make. It’s in black and white. Sometimes Saturn makes the choice for us.
With both Mercury and Saturn changing direction within a few days of the new moon, it’s a lunar month of shifting realities, too. Things are moving in a new direction. Our choices are taking us in a new direction.
That said, the new moon comes on the heels of a conjunction between Mars and Jupiter in Aries. As we do our homework and make plans for the future, we have a huge push from Mars and Jupiter to begin a new adventure. If fact, the new moon may be a time of grand inspiration and bigger vision for the future. Reflect on where you want to go, but with Mercury and Saturn, we have to have maturity and responsibility.
