The Moon spans between Capricorn and Aquarius, two signs that speak to the structures and systems that life is built upon as well as the power that fuels it. As a result, we’re working on themes of community, society, and equity. Plus, we’re between the eclipses.

The time between the start of an eclipse series and its end mark a portal of time and energy that we pass through, a magic, liminal, and sometimes chaotic space that brings us into a new time like a birth. We began this time with a Sagittarius Full Moon lunar eclipse on June 5 and we end this time with a Capricorn Full Moon lunar eclipse on July 5.

Curiously, because of the astronomy of this eclipse season, we have a solar eclipse in between these two lunar eclipses. Falling at 0 Cancer, the very first degree of Cancer and coinciding with the solstice, this eclipse touches on Cancer’s archetype of the mother, birth, nurturing, care, and emotional connection. The solstice is going to be a powerful moment for us to bring something new into this world.

I also want to briefly touch on the astrology of some of the world events that we are experiencing, the protests against police brutality and the murder of George Floyd reopened up a chasm of unhealed trauma and inequity. Right now Saturn is in Aquarius and has been since March 21 and Saturn works through 29 year arcs of time.

If astrology is about cycles of time and our expression of these cycles of time, it’s important to note that the last time that Saturn was in Aquarius, nearly 29 years ago, was the Los Angeles riots of 1992. Approximately twenty-nine years before that the 1963 March on Washington and the civil rights movement of the 1960s. Twenty-nine years before that was the early 1930s and the Great Depression, which was the last time Uranus was in Taurus. (I mentioned this in the intro to my Saturn in Aquarius webinar, which you can watch here.)

Astrology tells us what time it is, but it’s up to us to decide what to do with this time. That said, there are imperatives that are bigger than our free will. If we can look to the Pluto hand on the clock, which has been pointing towards Capricorn since 2008, it’s been telling us that we must reform the structures of the world and heal anything that is unhealed. And it starts by healing that unhealed structure within.

I’ll be talking a little more about this as well as about the astrology of this week on my Facebook Live today, June 8, at 6:15 pm EDT.
