It’s officially Capricorn season. Happy birthday to the sign that teaches us about maturity, responsibility, and working hard to climb the ladder of success. And happy solstice! We’re officially celebrating the return of the light in the northern hemisphere.
As the last earth sign, Capricorn is mastery over the physical world, taking the raw materials of Taurus, refining and crafting them in Virgo, and building something that stands the test of time. Capricorn is government, rules, tradition, order, and structure, too. As a result, this is the time of year when we naturally start to think of the big picture. What are our goals for the coming year? How do we get real, get organized, get healthier? We’re feeling time slip away.
Capricorn is also an area that has seen a fair bit of seismic shifts over the last eight or so years. Starting in January 2008, when Pluto arrived in Capricorn for the first time in 230 years — let that sink in for a moment — we’ve been tearing apart structure, shifting government, looking at the underside of power and authority. Surely there’s an area of your life that has undergone a massive restructuring.
I mentioned this because now that the Sun is in Capricorn, it’s time for our yearly check in with Pluto, this one scheduled for January 7. As I was informed in a channel I received on Pluto, it’s a planet that forces us to look into the dark, take ownership for what is ours, what we project onto others, and transmute darkness into light.
Want to know what area Pluto is demanding non-negotiable change? Where you’re having to look at your own shadow? Here’s a quick reminder:
Aries and Aries Rising — Career, direction, status, public reputation, authority, power.
Taurus and Taurus Rising — Beliefs, philosophy, worldview, higher education, religion, law.
Gemini and Gemini Rising — The shadow, the psyche, fears, intimacy, trust, finance, wealth, debt.
Cancer and Cancer Rising — Relationships, partnership, interpersonal connection, other people.
Leo and Leo Rising — Health, wellness, diet, nutrition, day-to-day life, rituals, habits, work.
Virgo and Virgo Rising — Identity, self expression, the ego, talent, creativity, children.
Libra and Libra Rising — Home, family, emotional connection, roots, foundation, stability, inner circle.
Scorpio and Scorpio Rising — Communication, thinking, learning, education, travel, writing, speaking, siblings.
Sagittarius and Sagittarius Rising — Money, income, personal resources, the material world, material security, value.
Capricorn and Capricorn Rising — The self, personality, physical vitality, leadership, authority, independence.
Aquarius and Aquarius Rising — Spirituality, the unconscious, divine connection, letting go, shedding karmic patterns.
Pisces and Pisces Rising — Friends, social connection, community, groups, belonging.
Surely these are areas that have seen a lot of radical change since 2008. With Pluto still in Capricorn, we’ll continue to take a hard look at these areas and release our shadow.
Since 2008 there isn’t a single area of my life that hasn’t gone through a massive restructuring. Now I get to see how Pluto’s conjunction to my natal Mars at 18″ Capricorn plays out…
P.S.: I am a Sag with Sag Rising.
