Welcome to the Aries New Moon. This is the time in the lunar calendar when we begin again. Aries connections us to the energies of renewal and rebirth, action and forward movement. The new moon is exact on April 1, 2022 at 2:25 am EDT, 11 degrees Aries. That’s 11:25 pm Los Angeles on March 31, 7:25 am London, 8:25 am Johannesburg, 5:25 pm Sydney, 7:25 pm Auckland.
New moons are new beginnings and this is the first new moon of the astrological year. Falling in the sign of Aries, which is also the first sign of the zodiac, we come to the energy of the I, the one. Aries brings us back into manifestation, back into a new cycle after the collective experience and liminality of Pisces.
In Aries, we learn to stand on our own two feet, to find our courage and bravery to start over and head off on a new journey through the twelve zodiac signs. It’s the spark that brings life to everything in creation.
With that in mind, this is a new moon to renew and to find new life. We may feel a rush to move forward and take action on something long overdue. We may feel full of life and creative vitality. We may have the courage and confidence to assert ourselves or to leave a situation where are not thriving.
With Mars, the ruler of the new moon, over in Aquarius, as much as this new moon is about action and individuality, it’s also about having a vision for the future and making the alliances and connections in order to bring this vision into manifestation. We also have to become aware of how our actions impact others, from our community to all of humanity.
There’s a couple of notable points to make about this new moon. First, the new moon makes a conjunction to Chiron in Aries. It isn’t so simple to rush forward with this new moon. No, we may feel conflicting emotions. We may wonder if we have the courage and confidence to take action and stand up for ourselves. The urge to individuate and start over may press upon a deeper pain point.
Chiron in Aries says that whatever we’re creating with this new moon has to, in some way, benefit others. Because Chiron is a planet in astrology where we have to take the things that have made us suffer the most and use it like medicine to inspire and show others what is possible. Know that when you take action this month, when you find your courage, you’re taking action for others, you’re inspiring others to find their courage.
The other notable thing is that Mars is coming up to a conjunction to Saturn in Aquarius, exact on April 4. This means that over the next four weeks, we’re also working with the energies of Saturn. We’re building and constructing. We’re taking on new roles of leadership. We’re putting things back into balance and order. But new beginnings may come with an ultimatum, a hard line drawn against something that long ago needed to end.
That said, use this new moon to be brave and courageous, and to set forward on a new path that will lead you towards a greater goal and ambition. With Saturn in the mix, we’ve got to take a big step up over the next couple of weeks.
