Welcome to the Aquarius Full Moon, the second of a pair. The spotlight is on friends and community as well as systems and networks. With Saturn square Uranus, we are reshaping who and what we’re connected to. The full moon is exact on August 22, 2021 at 8:02 am EDT. That’s 5:02 am Los Angeles, 1:02 pm London, 2:02 pm Johannesburg, 10:02 pm Sydney, and 12:02 am Auckland on August 23.
Full moons demand action and decision. Something is in full view. They can be dramatic or punctuate a part of our lives. Since this full moon comes right on the heels of Uranus’s retrograde turn, whatever we see under its full light may shake us awake and demand new consciousness. Life may feel like it’s moving very fast. This full moon is also at the very last degree of Aquarius, so something may be coming to a close or demand resolution.
Let’s not forget that this isn’t the first Aquarius Full Moon this year and therefore inextricably linked to the July 23 full moon at 1 Aquarius, two halves of a whole, two full moons bookending the August 8 Leo New Moon.
As I’ve been saying throughout my writings lately, it’s as if we have one foot in a new life, one foot in an old life in 2021. There’s a tension and pull between these two lives that can sometimes feel like a struggle to resolve. In order to fully step into something new, we have to build new networks and paths. We also have to be willing to leave something behind.
There will be moments in 2021 that propel us forward. June, for example, was one of them. But August seems especially important in this process, its alchemical and reactional energies opening up something radically new. Pay attention to what’s going on right now. It’s part of a larger story.
This full moon gives life to the ongoing square between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus. Think of it this way. Until 2020, your life had a certain shape. But now it’s undergoing the sometimes difficult and awkward process of reshaping itself into something new. Saturn and Uranus are pushing things around, putting things into new order.
This full moon also gives life to Jupiter in Aquarius, a planet that gives us new perspectives and horizons, but can also make things bigger, whether it’s a bold vision or an ongoing mess.
That said, have courage and bravery to take steps towards something new you want to implement. Be open to radically new options. Allow your life to reshape itself instead of resisting. Reach out to friends and community. Set powerfully new boundaries with toxic friends and community. Forge new connections, pathways, and systems. Become more socially aware. Step further into a new life.
