Happy Taurus Full Moon! This is the time of the lunar calendar when we shine a light on stability and security. Taurus the earth beneath our feet. It’s our basic needs, from food, money, and shelter to what we need to thrive in the physical world. With that in mind, the full moon is exact on October 24, 2018 at 12:45 pm EDT, 1 degree Taurus/Scorpio. That’s 9:45 am Los Angeles, 5:45 pm London, and 3:45 am in Sydney on October 25.

Full moons are revelations. They shine a spotlight. They put things directly into our awareness through events and experiences that make us question or seek clarity. Full moons can confront as well as spur us into a new direction. And when there’s a full moon in Taurus, we’re very aware of need since Taurus is a need driven sign. Do we have enough money in the bank? Do we have a roof over our head. Do we have food to eat? Do we feel safe? When our inner Taurus is happy we feel relaxed. We revel in the pleasures of earthly life, from the taste of our favorite foods to simple luxuries and even sex. But what happens when our inner Taurus is anxious and unsure?

It’s safe to say that anxious and unsure is where we’re at. Back in May 2018, the planet Uranus arrived in Taurus, a sign that it had not been in since the 1930s and 1940s. See, Uranus shakes up whatever it touches, whether its another planet or a sign. Shakeups aren’t necessarily a bad thing, but keep in mind that Taurus doesn’t like to change the status quo. It likes things just so, which is to say happy, relaxed, and with plenty of snacks.

I mention this because the full moon will line up almost exactly with Uranus, which means that we’re moving into the next chapter of whatever story began back in May. Uranus says that there’s a part of our life that needs to change even though we’d rather hold onto the status quo or be lazy about necessary changes. This full moon may be showing you exactly what needs to change. (Not sure what? Check out my Uranus in Taurus: Sign by Sign guide.)

With the Sun and Venus, the ruler of the full moon, in Scorpio, it’s important to take awareness that we need to get out of our comfort zone. If Taurus is solid ground, then Scorpio is like walking up to the edge of a cliff and summoning the courage to jump into the dark waters below. It’s a strong metaphor, but, then again, Scorpio is a sign that deals in strong metaphors. Scorpio says that we have to face our fears and deal with the things that are below the surface, tugging and pulling at our sense of safety and security.

Maybe you’ve been thinking of making big changes since May, but haven’t quite had the nerve to do so. Think of this full moon as the push. If you jump, will you be safe? Will you have everything you need? There’s only one way to find out. Growth only happens outside of our comfort zone.

It’s important to note that the full moon makes an exact square to the lunar nodes, so we may experience events that feel fated, pivotal, or push us quickly in a new direction. The lunar nodes also echo back to the eclipses of this past July and August and may bring something up that began around that time in a way that may feel dramatic or need attention.

I like that the full moon makes a trine to Saturn in Capricorn, which feels like a steady hand in an otherwise highly charged configuration of energy. Uranus may demand change, but we still have Saturn to help us plan, work, set boundaries, and otherwise set our ambitions on something better. Nevertheless, something in our life is changing. It may be ourselves, how we relate to each other, how we define our career and place in the world, or even where we live. And this has been brewing for the last six months or so.

Do we have faith to make that leap?
