Happy Scorpio Full Moon! This is the time of the year when we look into the dark, the areas that we’d rather keep hidden, the cast off areas of our psyche. Scorpio is the shadow, power, intimacy, trust as well as finance, wealth, and debt. Scorpio is the purge followed by rebirth. The full moon will be exact on May 3, 2015 at 11:42 pm EDT, 13 degrees Scorpio/Taurus. That’s 8:42 pm LA, 4:42 am London on 5/4 and 1:42 pm Sydney on 5/4 as well.
Let’s be honest. The Scorpio Full Moon is not a light and fluffy time in the lunar calendar. Like a lance to an infection, it draws out toxins both emotional and energetic. Full moons are inherently revelatory, shining a light on the archetype of the sign they fall in. So, what happens when we shine a light in the dark?
In the twelve signs of the zodiac, encompassing all the archetypes of creation, there has to be a place where we lump the more uncomfortable experiences of human life — shame, taboo, intimacy, secrets, grief. Scorpio dutifully holds that banner and under its full moon we will be invited to simply let it go.
This is a dynamic full moon, a little bit of an in your face, punch in the gut. Mars, the ruler of the full moon, is in Taurus making a wide opposition. Venus is in Gemini square Chiron. Jupter in Leo makes a square to the Sun and Moon, highlighting themes of identity, self expression, and creative talents. This full moon is digging deep, hitting all the sensitive points. Needless to say you may be feeling triggered, wondering who you are at your core.
Here’s the thing. Scorpio is not trying to be a jerk. It’s a sign that represents a necessary process, reminding us that we can’t hold onto things forever. Try as we might, especially with Mars in Taurus, but this is a full moon to confront what we’ve been stubbornly carrying, in this life and in others. Scorpio is really good at resentment and bitterness. Let it go.
Be very intentional about this full moon. If any emotions are coming up, recognize that the full moon is dragging them up for a reason. Use the energy of Scorpio to release them, transmute them. Pluto sextile the full moon is a dash of magic and alchemy. Scorpio is also rebirth as well and through the ashes we rise again.
