Heads up. Neptune, the planet of mysticism and altered states of consciousness, will turn retrograde on June 14 — less than a week away.

Whenever a planet turns directions, it saturates the collective with its archetype. Just think of the days around Mercury Retrograde, a time when communications shenanigans are on high. Neptune, however, is a little bit more of a background planet than, say, Mercury or Mars. It creeps up on us like the tide.

So, what can we expect?

Keep in mind that Neptune blurs the boundaries between physical reality and the world beyond. We may feel sleepy, foggy, a little confused. We may also feel extra sensitive. Neptune is a planet that speaks to the collective emotional experience; we feel everyone and everything. Neptune is universality, we merge in spiritual oneness in unconditional love. Neptune is the planet that not only reminds us of the quiet voice of spirit, but the purity and redemption available to us through sincere contrition and surrender.

There’s also a dark side to Neptune. As the energy builds this week in advance of the station, be mindful of any impulse to hide out or use substance to numb. Neptune often gives us a fantasy of what we’d like reality to be versus what it is. Check your facts as well as your grounding. Is it a mirage or is it real?
