Welcome to the Virgo Full Moon, the time in the lunar calendar when the spotlight is on our earthly lives, from our health and wellness to the duties and responsibilities that keep our days running. This full moon is also a lunar eclipse and a major turning point. The Virgo Full Moon will be exact on March 3, 2026 at 6:37 am ET, 12 degrees Virgo-Pisces. That’s 3:37 am Los Angeles, 11:37 am London, 1:37 pm Johannesburg, 5:07 pm New Delhi, 10:37 pm Sydney, 12:37 am Auckland on March 4.
Full moons are decision points. They can create a sense of urgency and immediacy in a particular part of our lives. Lunar eclipses take the energy of the full moon and amplify it, creating a ripple that can reach into the following days and weeks. Events often follow the eclipse as one door closes and another opens.
Our focal point, courtesy of the lunar eclipse, is the sign of Virgo, the sixth sign of the zodiac as well as an earth sign. True to its name, earth signs govern over our earthly and material lives, from the money and resources we need (Taurus) to the structures that we build and our responsibilities to them (Capricorn).
Virgo, ruled by Mercury, is about the day-to-day movements of our lives. We get up, we have certain habits and routines, we take care of our physical health, we get exercise, we have work and daily duties. Our day is organized so that everything flows. Or, at least that is the idea.
In my opinion as an astrologer, Virgo has always been a greatly underrated sign. In many ways it’s the sign that keeps the proverbial wheels on the bus. It’s great at strategizing and planning. And, speaking of wheels, it acts like the small wheel to Aquarius’s great wheel — the wheel that keeps the world running.
That said, we have work to do. Depending on our relationship with Virgo as an energy and archetype, this is a full moon to get our lives in order, to reevaluate the systems that our daily lives run on, to take better care of ourselves and others … to name a few examples. A lunar eclipse makes it a priority, and in some cases, critically so. (Note that we had a Virgo lunar eclipse back on March 14, 2025 and Virgo-Pisces eclipses previously in 2015-2016, 2006-2007, 1997-1998.)
On the other end of this Virgo lunar eclipse is the Pisces Sun, the symbolic heaven to Virgo’s earth. In order to understand this lunar eclipse we need to understand the push and pull between our earthly lives and our spiritual lives. We need the same amount of care, attention, and work in our spiritual lives as we do what happens here in the physical realm.
When we look at the chart of the Virgo Full Moon eclipse, we find Mercury, its ruler, over in Pisces, drawing a line of tension between Virgo and Pisces. Mercury is retrograde, too, a reminder that whatever is coming up around the eclipse may have roots in the past or demand that we take a second look at a matter. Mercury in Pisces is not the sharp analysis of Virgo. Instead we have to learn to listen to our intuition or make compassionate choices.
Mars, newly in Pisces, also creates a point of tension. Mars can raise the emotional temperature. It can also provoke, even in Pisces, a sign where Mars is more philosophical and spiritual than aggressive. But, some of the great acts of aggression have been waged by people who felt that they had the moral authority to do so.
Finally, the full moon eclipse makes a trine to Jupiter in Cancer. Perhaps there’s hope for us. Jupiter inspires us to want more out of our lives, to seek and explore. In Cancer, it reminds us to lean on family and loved ones, that our strength comes through our connection to one another.
Join me for Sacred Fire, an online workshop on March 21 from 1-4pm ET. In this intimate workshop we will learn to work with the energies of Aries, the equinox, and element fire, using them to reignite our flame, to set a new course for the astrological year. Recorded for replay. Learn more and register.
