Welcome to the Virgo Full Moon, the time in the lunar calendar when the spotlight is on health and wellness, organization and helping others. As the counter to Pisces Season, Virgo helps us to keep our feet on the ground and to bring heaven to earth. The full moon is exact on February 24, 2024 at 7:31 am ET, 5 degrees Virgo-Pisces. That’s 4:31 am Los Angeles, 12:31 pm London, 2:51 pm Johannesburg, 6:21 pm New Delhi, 11:51 pm Sydney, and 1:51 am Auckland on February 25.
Full moons are decision points, a time when our lives or events may demand action. It is a turning point. Do we make a left or a right? It’s also a time when the seeds of the February 9-10 Aquarius New Moon come to fruition.
Virgo and Pisces are the helping and healing axis, two signs that inspire us to want to care for others as well as be of service. People with strong astrology placements in Virgo-Pisces (and by extension the 6th and 12th Houses) are the nurses, physicians, counselors, herbalists, priests and priestesses of the zodiac. They are also the teachers — Virgo is more practical and analytical in its teaching; Pisces, on the other hand, teaches by inspiring and transmitting wisdom and knowledge to others.
That said, Virgo gets to the nuts and bolts of our day-to-day lives. We can’t get more real world than Virgo, a sign that speaks to setting a schedule and routine, making sure we brush our teeth and eat our vegetables. As a result, this is a full moon to take a critical lens to the functions that run our lives. Is there a necessity to clean up? To put things in order? To create new routines? Eat more healthily and take better care of our bodies?
The beauty of astrology is that there are helpful axioms for living if we know where to look for them. And in the duality between Virgo and Pisces is a reminder that we can’t be so practical and grounded that we lose the magic. Or so magical and spiritual that we lose our grounding. We always have to find the balance between two halves; this is a general life truth.
In the chart of Virgo Full Moon we find a strong push and pull between the signs of Virgo and Pisces, between the tangible world and intangible world. After all, just before the full moon, Mercury arrived in Pisces. And as the planet that governs Virgo, it pulls the energy of the full moon over to Pisces, where we also find the Sun and Saturn.
Saturn is quite the planet to contend with. It’s the planet of lessons and serious decisions and the milestones that build the timeline of our lives. As much as Pisces is the eternal optimist, there’s a sobriety to this full moon, a push for us to take something seriously. It’s a checkpoint, especially one that marks our time with Saturn in Pisces from 2023 to 2026. Have we been learning the lessons?
Since Saturn creates structure, this full moon may be a structural point in our year, aligning with events that builds a story, a story that has its roots in events from March, June, and November 2023. And events that presage Mars in Pisces from March 22 to April 30, 2024 as well as the Pisces lunar eclipse of September 17, 2024. (Read Saturn in Pisces: Sign by Sign.)
Pisces is an odd place for Saturn to reside. As the planet of matter and the material world, it takes us into a sign that brings us beyond the physical plane and into the spiritual and universal. This means that this is a full moon to put our physical and spiritual lives in order, to create ritual, but to also tend to our spirits, to forgive and let go, to find compassion, to align the material with the spiritual.
Finally we have support from Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus, support to reinvent, try a different path, and bring our dreams into reality.
In short, this is a full moon to get organized, to prioritize our physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness. But to also make serious decisions that take into account the things that truly matter and that make our lives better.
