The Sun and Uranus join at 1 Gemini, a conjunction that kicks off a seven year chapter of reinvention and change. Look for flashes of insight and awareness, ideas and conversations that upend the status quo, and even a need to make a break from the past.
When I think of the archetype of Uranus, I often think of the major arcana card, The Tower XVI, in the tarot. Its imagery is confrontational. Naturally, when The Tower shows up in our tarot spreads, we may instinctively reject it.
However, every card in the tarot, just like every planet and sign in astrology, plays a necessary role in the revelation and evolution of life. The Tower often comes when events shake up the status quo or we make a profound realization that shifts how we see ourselves and our situation. The Tower strips away illusion and the ego. Without these realizations we would not grow.
Astrologer and cultural historian Richard Tarnas likens Uranus to Prometheus. If you remember your Greek myths, Prometheus, a Titan, gives fire to humanity. And so Uranus can be a light in the dark, a revelation that changes everything.
This may make for strong imagery and not everyone will experience this week’s influence of the Sun and Uranus to this degree. But if you’re searching for a new path to take or new options, this may be just the day to be open to insights that may change everything. (Read Uranus in Gemini: Sign by Sign.)
