Welcome to Gemini Season. The Sun arrives in the third sign of the zodiac, taking us from the earthy stability of Taurus to the airy movements of Gemini. It’s a season to move and travel, to seek new experiences and ideas, to enjoy life in all its colors and flavors.
This is a Gemini Season unlike any other because this is the first time that both the Sun and Uranus are in Gemini in 80 years. (If you recall, Uranus entered Gemini on April 25.) What this means is that our experiences with the energy and archetype of Gemini will be lived through the lens of the planet Uranus for the next six years. (Read Uranus in Gemini: Radical Ideas.)
What’s Uranus?
Uranus is a modern planet discovered in 1781, which means that ancient astrologers didn’t know of its existence. Uranus as well as Neptune and Pluto are evolutionary planets whose influence takes us beyond the ordinary and personal. They help us to grow and evolve, opening us up to periods in our lives that can profoundly awaken us to our existence. Uranus in particular can forge new consciousness through necessary breakdowns and breakthroughs that help us to leave the past behind.
We will all live Uranus in Gemini differently, not just because of our astrology but our life circumstances, too. Even if we have no planets in Gemini, we still symbolically live the sign through speech and communication, learning and education, options and choices, travel and movement. This week, with the Sun and Mercury in alignment with Uranus, we will have some of our first openings to what Uranus in Gemini will mean for us. Perhaps this will be a week for powerful new ideas, insights, a need to make different choices, and a shake up of the status quo, especially if we are Gemini Suns and rising.
