There are big moves afoot! Jupiter leaves Aries for Taurus, arriving in the sign for the first time in 11 years. If Jupiter in Aries was about new beginnings and the spark of new life, then Jupiter in Taurus is about these sparks and new beginnings taking root.
Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and has a reputation in astrology as the planet of benevolence and protection. Generally speaking, wherever Jupiter resides, we see that part of our life grow and flourish with new opportunities. Difficult situations can be smoothed over or we may see things from a different perspective. (Read Jupiter in Taurus: Sign by Sign for a detailed look.)
And Jupiter, like Saturn, has one of the longest orbital periods of the classical planets, taking nearly 12 years to travel the zodiac. Its movements speak to life not on a personal level, but on a larger level. Jupiter opens up our eyes to the world, inspiring us to seek out new adventures or to grow beyond what is familiar or even stagnant. Jupiter is faith and truth, philosophy and education, travel and exploration.
There are a couple of important things to keep in mind. Jupiter can be an activator, adding energy to something that’s already in play. Since 2018, 2019, Uranus has been in Taurus, shaking up that part of our astrology for the last five years. Jupiter can inspire us to make further changes or give fuel to Uranus’s tendency for instability, especially in Taurus. (Read Uranus in Taurus: Sign by Sign.)
Similarly, we’ve been having eclipses in the sign of Taurus and Scorpio since November 2021. Eclipses can plant seeds that need a planet to activate that seed. Most recently, we had an eclipse at 14 Scorpio back on May 5 and a lunar eclipse in Taurus on November 8 at 16 Taurus. When Jupiter turns retrograde on September 4 of this year, we may see those eclipses triggered, bringing the energy of change forward. Time will tell.
Nevertheless, the Taurus part of our astrology will have a lot going on in the next twelve months, until Jupiter leaves on May 25, 2024.
