Venus trades Pisces for Aries today, arriving in the first sign of the zodiac and kicking off a new cycle. If Venus is what we love and value, then in Aries we value freedom, we want to take the lead. It’s our first sign that the astrological new year is on the horizon.
Everything starts with Aries. And when a planet goes into Aries, it takes on the characteristics of the sign according to the qualities of the planet. Aries puts us in contact with the first energies of life in their primal state, like green shoots emerging from the earth after the barrenness of winter.
Traditionally speaking, Venus is not at home in Aries. It is in a sign where it has to take on the qualities of Mars. (Aries is opposite Libra, a sign that Venus calls home.) It’s just that this is generally not the Venus of diplomacy. Instead, this is a Venus of desire (Mars) and going after what it wants. For some, we may experience this as an awakening, a stirring of new wants and desires, a need to go out on our own. (Venus will be in Aries until March 30, 2026)
What’s curious is that Venus will now be in the same sign as Saturn and Neptune, which is to say that Venus will help to bring Saturn and Neptune into focus for us — in particular Saturn newly in Aries. Venus will reveal what new priorities, what new relationships, or even commitments will be coming into our lives with Saturn in Aries. The Venus-Saturn conjunction this weekend, on March 8, will be a time to reconsider a relationship or to draw a boundary. (Read Saturn in Aries: Sign by Sign.)
So, observe what themes and experiences you have this weekend. They could be a clue to a larger story that will be with us into 2028 and beyond. And note that this is the first conjunction of Venus and Saturn in Aries since May 1998 and Venus and Neptune in Aries since April 1874.
