Mars in Gemini makes a square to Neptune, the last in a series of aspects that thread to October 2022 when Mars originally turned retrograde. If Mars is the planet of action and drive, it had to learn to take a back seat the past few months and go with the flow.
Mars and Neptune can be a frustrating combo because Mars is typically very self motivated and directed. After all, it wants what it wants. But Neptune? Neptune works at a level that goes beyond the self that can sometimes be at cross purposes with Mars’s material and physical demands.
And Mars in Gemini? Here we are, nearing the end of Mars’s seven month slog through the sign of communication and information, curiosity and choice. The retrograde from October 30, 2022 to January 12, 2023 pushed us to reconsider our motivations and actions, to rethink our choices and how we communicate.
Neptune is an evolutionary planet. Its job is to get us to transform by any means possible. By playing a foil to Mars’s demands and desires, we’ve had to see our Mars from a higher perspective and push ourselves to evolve.
Further, Neptune is also a planet that blurs the boundaries between this world and the next world. Mars’s actions can’t be selfish. They have to be aligned with something greater and, hopefully, altruistic. They have to be compassionate and learn to find the right balance between best of Mars — leadership and motivation — and the spirituality and flow of Neptune.
Mars gets out of its retrograde shadow this week, passing 25 Gemini, the degree of its October 30 station. We’ll start to see things pick up, especially once Mars gets into Cancer on March 25.
