Welcome to Aquarius Season. The Sun crosses between Capricorn and Aquarius, kicking off a season that brings us nearly to the end of the zodiac. Aquarius is the 11th sign, the sign of the collective and humanity, of community and social connection.
If Capricorn Season was about the physical structures of our lives, then Aquarius — also ruled by the planet Saturn — is about the social and informational structures. Aquarius is the framework that connects us all, the social fabric that we can’t see but intuitively we know is there.
When the Sun reaches Aquarius, we’ve reached a sign that has brought us very far from where we began with the Sun in Aries. And for a sign that speaks to social bonds, it can sometimes feel lonely when we get Aquarius Season. Where are my people? How do I build community and connection?
Now that the Sun is in Aquarius, we have a few important points to consider.
One, this is only our second Aquarius Season with Pluto in Aquarius. We’re still getting used to the structures that will irrevocably change while Pluto is in Aquarius — and the area of our lives that will also change. For those who are an Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, or Scorpio, this Aquarius Season will potentially mark a larger shift.
Two, Saturn, the ruler of Aquarius, is nearing the end of its time in Pisces. A three-year chapter is drawing to a close, as a result. Alongside Neptune, there’s a heavy influence to Saturn in Pisces at the moment. The end of Pisces symbolically is a space of endings. We may be feeling emotional, ungrounded, or sensing that something is about to change. (Saturn will enter Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, on February 13.)
Three, we’re four weeks away from a solar eclipse at 28 Aquarius on February 17. We’re also in a space of time that brings us to the end of a six-month chapter, one that began on September 21, and prepares us for a new beginning and new story. This will be our first eclipse in a series of eclipses that will take place in Aquarius-Leo. (The last time we had eclipses in Aquarius-Leo was in 2017-2018.)
Which is all to say that the next few weeks are a convergence point, different cycles leading to a similar moment in time. Endings and beginnings. Pisces and Aries. Our focus will shift towards the collective.
