Welcome to the Taurus New Moon. It’s the time in the lunar calendar when we turn our attention to the renewal and fertility of spring. As the first earth sign, Taurus puts us back in touch with the basics that life needs to thrive. It’s food, money, shelter, and touch. That said, the Taurus New Moon is exact on April 22, 2020 at 10:36 pm EDT, 3 degrees Taurus. That’s 7:36 pm Los Angeles, 3:36 am London on April 23, 12:36 pm Sydney, and 2:36 pm Auckland.

We don’t often think of Taurus in relation to touch, but it’s a very tactile sign. It needs to hold and possess. It needs to feel softness and a caress. It needs to be held and to know that everything is safe.

Over the coming four weeks, this is the time for us to really tune into the Taurus archetype as well as its earth energy. Are we experiencing touch? Do we enjoy life and indulge in its simple pleasures or do we feel lack? What’s our relationship with touch as well as our bodies? What do we truly value? Are we grounded in reality?

Here’s the thing. The Taurus New Moon makes a conjunction to Uranus, which means that, over the next four weeks, we’re shaking things up. We’re reinventing what we value. We’re revolutionizing pleasure. We’re potentially seeing a seismic shift in our relationship with our bodies. We’re awaking to what we really need to feel stable and secure. We’re coming back to ourselves as well as what really matters.

Think back to March 2019. That was the month that Uranus arrived in Taurus for a seven year stay, opening a new time for everyone. Uranus in Taurus demands that we have a new relationship with some of the most basic things in life — food, money, our bodies, and the earth beneath our feet. (For more on Uranus in Taurus, read Uranus in Taurus: Earthquake.)

You’re already feeling this shift. Perhaps you’ve even taken radical steps or seen things upend since March 2019, especially if you’re a Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius. This new moon is merely a chapter in an ongoing story. It creates a change, a new direction, and even a plot twist over the next few weeks.

Depending on where Taurus is in our charts, that part of our lives has seen or in the midst of seeing a massive shift, one that feels like a revolution, a reinvention, a confrontation, a liberation. But it’s also important to understand that wherever Taurus is in our chart is the area that is generally the most resistant to change because Taurus’s instinct is to preserve. (Not sure what part of your life is seeing this change? Read my Uranus in Taurus: Sign by Sign article.)

So, where have you been resisting change? This new moon may give us an opportunity to have a breakthrough in the coming weeks, one that is part of a greater narrative that will last into 2025-2026. Further, the new moon makes a square to Saturn in Aquarius. We need to take things seriously. We need to set boundaries and limits. We need to say no to what’s not working. We need to take responsibility and work towards greater goals.

That said, it’s Taurus Season. It’s still the season of Venus, its ruling planet, the season to enjoy the sweetness and pleasure of life. Cook. Bake. Gather. Take inventory. Dust off anything you own and forgotten how much you love. And if you’re fortunate to have more than enough, take a cue of Venus in Gemini and share your abundance.
