Welcome to the Taurus Full Moon, a time in the lunar calendar when the spotlight is on our material lives. Taurus, an earth sign, governs over our most basic needs — food, water, shelter. It’s comfort and pleasure, stability and security, fertility and the rebirth of life. The full moon is exact on October 26, 2026, at 12:12 am ET, 2 degrees Taurus-Scorpio. That’s 9:12 pm Los Angeles (October 25), 4:12 am London (October 26), 6:12 am Johannesburg, 9:42 am New Delhi, 3:12 pm Sydney, 5:12 pm Auckland.
Full moons are decision points. They put a matter into the spotlight. They can coincide with events and decisive moments. The seeds planted at the time of the Libra New Moon two weeks before on October 10 have come into full view.
To have a Taurus Full Moon, the Sun must be in Scorpio. Both signs, Taurus and Scorpio, are the axis of matter and the material world. The natural world comes alive when the Sun is in Taurus. The natural world decays and comes to the end of its cycle in Scorpio. Two signs speak to the endless dance between life, death, and rebirth.
As much as Scorpio can bring a chill and cast a darker hue, Taurus is a reminder that all endings pave way for new beginnings. In order for there to be new life, something must first end. It’s practically a universal law.
So, this is a full moon to dream of new beginnings, to seek the pleasure of earthly life, to welcome new life by letting go of the past. It’s also a full moon to turn our attention to our material lives, from what we own and the resources we have at hand to more philosophical matters around what we value, including self-worth and value.
We find Venus, the ruler of the full moon, retrograde at 29 Libra. Although in its home sign, Venus at the last degree of a sign carries weight. What have we learned? What have we learned about what truly matters? Are we so focused on the material that we have lost sight of the bigger picture?
In the chart of the full moon, we find Venus opposite Chiron in Aries. There’s a poignancy to this full moon as well as a push to let go and move on. If Taurus reflects our material attachments, including what we are stubbornly holding on to, Chiron invokes a need to heal. Then there’s the square from the Sun and Moon to Pluto in Aquarius, a t-square that pushes us to let go of control and to allow a long overdue process to happen.
Since there has been a lot of Pluto energy in this lunar month, from Pluto’s recent direct turn to aspects of Venus and Mars to Pluto, this full moon will likely continue a story that we have been watching play out over the last two weeks. Pluto speaks to gut-level transformations, a tossing out of the old in favor of the new, a demand for reformation and transformation.
With a full moon in Taurus, we continue to ask ourselves, what’s truly of value to us? Be prepared to invest in it in the coming days. Nourish new life by clearing out the old.
