Welcome to the Pisces New Moon. We’ve reached the end of the zodiac as well as the last lunar month of the astrological year. To that point, Pisces is the sign of endings. It brings us to the edge of one life and prepares us for the next. The new moon is exact on March 13, 2021 at 5:22 am EST, 23 degrees Pisces. That’s 2:22 am Los Angeles, 10:22 am London, 12:22 pm Johannesburg, 9:22 pm Sydney, and 11:22 pm Auckland.

New moons are new beginnings, but it seems a little ironic to start something while under the energy of Pisces, a sign that takes us out of this world and into the beyond. Nevertheless, here we are. Like Pisces’s symbol of two fishes swimming in different directions, we have to chose our next path. We’re at a spiritual fork in the roads.

With this new moon, we instead need to use this energy to let go of the situations, energies, relationships, attachments, sufferings, and addictions that hold us back or pull us away from our true selves. This Piscean act of letting go prepares us for the new beginnings that away with Aries Season, especially after the Aries New Moon on April 11.

It’s quite possible that we’re feeling very emotional with this new moon, as if releasing from deep within. With a conjunction to both Neptune and Venus, it’s hard not to be overwhelmed by this energy. If Venus is the planet of love, then a Neptune conjunction invites us to open our hearts to unconditional love. When you experience true unconditional love, you know; it breaks your heart open. It’s a true recognition of one soul to another. And it’s a love that asks for nothing in return.

This new moon also brings in the energy of the eclipses as it not only falls at the midpoint between eclipse seasons, but it it picks up an exact square to the December 14, 2020 solar eclipse at 23 Sagittarius. As a result, life may be a bit dramatic at the moment. Events may be happening quickly or unexpectedly. The doors of fate are closing and opening.

Both Sagittarius and Pisces are ruled by Jupiter, two sides of the same coin. If the December 14 solar eclipse invited us to explore themes around faith and truth — faith and truth discovered externally through philosophy, education, religion, and travel — then this new moon invites us to find faith and truth within. Pisces is spirituality, mysticism, and the truth found by forging a connection with the divine.

So, what is truth? What do we believe in after everything we’ve been through in the last year? What are we still carrying that we need to let go of? What is our relationship with Source/Spirit/God? Do we pray or meditate? Do we listen to our intuitive guidance? These are all questions to ask ourselves as we close out the astrological year.

Ultimately Pisces is a sign — especially with Neptune in Pisces — that reminds us that there’s our plans and then there’s Divine Plans.
