Neptune is now in Aries, a subtle yet major shift that will transform the sign for the next 14 years. If Aries is new beginnings, motivating us to lead and take action, Neptune acts as a catalyst, bringing collective spiritual action as well as an evolution of power.
Part of a cohort of planets called evolutionary planets, Neptune — along with Uranus and Pluto — work to foster personal and collective transformation. Sometimes that transformation reveals the shadows so that we may bring the light.
Wherever Neptune is, that area is a spiritual work. Typically Aries is a sign that needs a lot of freedom. It wants to lead, inspire, and motivate. Like with all evolutionary planets, we have to check the ego. And an unchecked Aries feels justified to use its power over others. Neptune can bring fanaticism and a holier-than-thou attitude. That said, the real work will be to transform how we take action, having grounded compassion for others and taking responsibility for how we inspire and motivate others. We may feel a call to get involved with groups and organizations, taking the energy of Aries and put it towards the achievement of a collective goal. For some, Neptune opens social consciousness and awareness of humanitarian issues. But Neptune may amplify a longing and need for community. And as much as this space can bring us closer to others, Neptune may bring a feeling of disillusionment and disconnection that reveals a distorted view of the world. Through the lens of Neptune, the rise of technology and AI may seem dystopian. In order to find connection we need to first heal our deep feelings of abandonment as well as our anxieties about the world. Of course, not small task. While Neptune is never concrete or ambitious, and its work cannot be measured, it creates a perspective shift instead that, in the case of Aries, Gemini’s 11th sign, may motivate you to discover what connection means.
Cancer and Cancer Rising — career, title, public life, power, responsibility, maturity. If Aries is Cancer’s sign of ambition and career, Neptune makes for an interesting combination. Your experiences over the coming years will be highly personal to your soul’s journey. In general, Neptune can erode ambition. That’s because Neptune, in its highest expression, has ambitions that are otherworldly and altruistic. And a story may unfold around power and how you wield power. Typically the example I give for Neptune in the 10th is, “It doesn’t matter if you’re the most powerful person in the world and have the money, title, and influence to go with it. First, it has to feed your soul.” For some, the coming years may bring a value shift in career and professional life. There may be a career change so that your professional life matches who you are and what you stand for. Material successes and accolades may not be so fulfilling anymore. So, what will take its place? There may be a period of wandering, seeking and searching for something in the world. But Neptune can also amplify, distorting our ambitions in a way that may bring us into illusions around power and influence. Neptune sets a high bar ultimately, a place of integrity for us to work towards. But, first, we may need to do a lot of personal healing around ambition, status, and power.
Leo and Leo Rising — knowledge, the world, exploration, travel, education, faith, belief. Neptune brings you out into the world. The coming years will be highly individual based on who we are and our soul’s experiences. In general, the role of the 9th House, and Aries is Leo’s 9th House, is to expand our world. We are pushed to go beyond ourselves. On a surface level, the 9th deals with matters of faith and belief, religion and philosophy, law and morality. Neptune’s influence may not be as evident right away. Instead it may show up as an existential longing, a desire to know more, and see the world. Trips or journeys may take on deep philosophical importance and we encounter points of view that have a profound influence. For some, the coming years mean more involvement in the world, from sharing and publishing ideas, to advocating for certain beliefs. For others, Neptune may amplify our world view or even distort our point of view. The risk is to not lose touch with reality. Overall, our vision of the world will change and hopefully become more expansive. But we may have healing to do on matters of faith, truth, and meaning.
Virgo and Virgo Rising — inner self, deep emotions, inner work, the psyche, intimacy, legacies. Neptune initiates you into the deep. It’s hard to quantify the road ahead, but what will likely happen is that there will be a great shift in your inner emotional and psychic landscape. The role of the 8th sign, and Aries is your 8th sign, is to bring you into a space of alchemy. Neptune will make you face yourself, slowly, layer by layer, breaking down the outer facade. Your experiences will in part be dependent on your level of emotional maturity and self awareness. And no one is supposed to do the 8th alone, which is why this chapter of your life may bring guides, therapists, and shamans along the way. Your experiences over the coming years will be highly personal depending on your own lived experiences and personal evolution. For example, if you have a hard time setting boundaries, then Neptune in Aries may coincide with periods of having to redefine boundaries and affirm your wants and needs. How will you bring the spiritual into the everyday? How will your acts and even your service to others honor the universal connection that we as humans share? Neptune sets a high bar. Neptune may bring a period of deep work on this very question, to heal the wounds of the past, to examine illusions and affectations, all to reveal a version of self that has been previously submerged. Capricorn and Capricorn Rising — home, family, roots, foundation, past, memories, emotional bonds. For you, Aries represents your base and foundation, your home and family as well as the roots that help you to feel a sense of emotional security and stability. Of course, home and family for many comes with a lot of complicated feelings and mixed emotions. Nevertheless, family is one of the cornerstones of life. Enter Neptune. It’s hard to quantify what the coming decade plus will mean for you, mostly because it depends on the specificities of your life and the events that have shaped, marked, and influenced home and family. Neptune may erode and shift your foundation. For some, Neptune begins to bring up a lot of deep emotions, some buried or even repressed. Aquarius and Aquarius Rising — voice, communication, thinking, learning education, information, curiosity, choice. How do you use your voice? Or express your curiosity about life? Neptune’s arrival in your 3rd sign will make for a subtle influence that, at its core, marks a period of transformation in how you speak, listen, learn, and even make choices. Since Neptune works around a deeper need to sublimate and heal, the coming years will be different depending on the life you’ve lived and your history of communication. If you’ve been one to not speak or to adopt the expressions and mannerisms of others, then Neptune is a call to reveal your own voice. Neptune is also an interesting influence on the 3rd sign since it is normally a space reserved for the intellectual mind and its processes — writing, speaking, learning. Aries is Pisces’s 2nd sign and the role of the 2nd sign is to shape our relationship with money and income, material stability and security. As humans, we all need material resources, from the basics and beyond. But Neptune makes for an odd pairing as the planet is inherently about the immaterial and spiritual. Regardless, Neptune in Aries marks a subtle change that will play out in different ways over the coming years. For many, it’s the start of a shift of values, a need for the material and the spiritual to align. No, it won’t mean that you will have to sell off all your possessions and live the life of an aesthetic, but it may mean that the material things that you didn’t give a second thought now bring reflection. What do I truly need? Is this the way I want to make my money? Or invest my time in? For some, the coming years may bring a chapter where you will need to heal your relationship with the material, releasing old patterns and insecurities, purifying any sufferings, all in order to rediscover an elevated relationship with money and resource. This includes your self worth and value and even your relationship with your body. The coming years may also bring a time to examine and reconcile deep resentments of not being taken care of … by the world, by the divine. For a few, Neptune will bring a higher calling, to share what you have, to be materially generous and altruistic. After all, we can’t take it with us.
