Welcome to the Libra Full Moon, the time in the lunar calendar when the spotlight is on relationship and connection, fairness and equity. Ruled by Venus, Libra reminds us of the power of compromise, that cooperation is integral to the success of life. The full moon will be exact on April 1, 2026 at 10:12 pm ET, 12 degrees Libra-Aries. That’s 7:12 pm Los Angeles, 3:12 am London on April 2, 4:12 am Johannesburg, 7:42 am New Delhi, 1:12 pm Sydney, 3:12 pm Auckland.
Full moons are decision points. They can demand action, especially in response to personal events. Emotions may run high. Our lives unfold through the lens of the sign of the full moon. The seeds that we planted at the time of the March 18 new moon have come to fruition.
Libra, the scales, is a cardinal sign. It aligns with one of the four directions and four seasons. Here in the northern hemisphere, Libra marks the autumn equinox, a time when there are equal parts day and night. On a deeper level, Libra stands as one of the four pillars of life, a reminder that without relationship and connection, our lives are out of balance.
In general, a Libra Full Moon is a call to review our relationships, from any romantic partnerships we are involved in to the way in which we show up and connect with others. It’s a time to reach out for support. Or to put a relationship back into balance by setting healthy boundaries. Or, since Libra is the sign of the scales, to seek fairness and justice, for example.
For there to be a Libra Full Moon, the Sun must be in Aries, also a cardinal sign. There’s a dynamic between these two signs, a push and pull between the individuality and independence of Aries and the cooperation and partnership of Libra. It can’t be so Aries that we forget about the needs of others, that we live life without any social support. But it can’t be so Libra that we always put the needs of others first, that we lose our individuality in relationships.
This push and pull is highlighted in the chart of the full moon, namely through an opposition to Saturn (and Neptune) in Aries. This full moon may come with a personal milestone and achievement, a call to be more mature and step up in our duties and responsibilities. Traditionally speaking, Saturn is in its “fall” in Aries, which is to say, in a sign that it does not do its best work in. We lose stability when we become overly self reliant. The full moon may show us where we have not been asking for help or trying to go it alone, to our detriment.
The ruler of the Libra Full Moon is Venus, a planet that doesn’t know how to go it alone. Instead, it reveals to us the power of negotiation and compromise, that social connection creates stability in our lives.
When we look for Venus in the chart of the full moon, we find it in Taurus, one of its home signs. This is a strong Venus, ready to help us put the time into our relationships, to foster the very stability that we need in our social connections. We value reliability in our relationships, people that really have the power to show up.
A square to Jupiter in Cancer may be a point of friction, one that pushes us to put down roots, to spend time with the people who bring care and nurture into our lives, to reach for family or those who are like family.
Of course, you may be thinking that your own life is anything but stable and reliable, that family is anything but a support. An opposition to Chiron in Aries may even touch on a deeper pain point around relationships, something that needs to be healed. The planets open an opportunity for us that meets the reality of our circumstances. With Venus’s square to Pluto in Aquarius, this may mean that in order to open up to a different type of relationship and connection, we have to do some inner work.
Pluto is alchemy. It’s not the promise of something better, but the pathway and the recipe to turn shadows into light.
