Months are rarely self contained entities. They include bits of narrative that stretch out days or even weeks before. June, for the most part, feels like a transitional month, a time when we’re wrapping things up instead of starting fresh, and taking a deep look at the past. Even Mercury, which began its retrograde on May 18, finishes up on June 11. And, seeing how the Sun is in Gemini for most of June, we’re transitioning out of spring in the northern hemisphere and prepping for summer.
But that’s not to say that June will be a sleepy month. We start off with a dynamic Sagittarius Full Moon on June 2. Sagittarius is faith, wisdom, and a need to see the world. With Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus playing major roles, we may feel a restless need to break free of the old, to set our sights on the next journey, and innovate a new path. The full moon will also highlight ideas as well, from how we communicate and teach them to others. If we receive ideas like a flash, spurred to put them into action, wait until after Mercury is direct.
All of this is a warm up act for June’s major shift of Saturn back into Scorpio. Just like Mercury Retrograde, we’re retracing an old path this month, one that has taken us through some of the deepest waters we’ve ever navigated. Deja vu much? Saturn was in Scorpio from October 2012 to December 2014, so get ready to take a hard look at themes of power, control, rebirth, and transformation, tying up loose ends on the lessons that dominated the last two years. Need a refresher on what Saturn in Scorpio means? Read here.
Finally, the Gemini New Moon on June 16 will cut deep with its square to Chiron, setting us up for a lunar month where we’ll be poking around in our psychic scar tissue. Pay attention to the emotional triggers coming up over the second half of the month. Like a lance to a wound, this is our opportunity to get to the heart of the matter and get healing. Gemini, normally a breezy, chatty sign, instead will help us to make new choices in the spirit of compassion.
