This is a transcription of the following video for Aries in January 2021.

Aries

March 21–April 19

Aries Glyph

No month is ever of a standalone month. Astrology is part of a bigger story. As we go into 2021, we’re not just stepping into a new year; we’re stepping into a bigger chapter of time. Right before the start of the new year in December, we had two planets—Saturn and Jupiter—change signs. It’s like two major planets in your clock changed hours and are now pointing towards community, friendships, looking towards the future, social connection, and building alliances. Maybe friendships are a rocky area right now because Saturn is now testing your friendships, it’s testing your alliances and who’s there for you. Who’s going to build your future and who’s not. Something around friendships is coming up, but that’s an area of your life that you’re going to be doing a lot of work on for the next two years.

2021 is the year that two parallel stories converge and create some friction. We’ve got another planet that also switched signs, although it did this a couple of years ago. That’s Uranus. When you look back, you may notice a lot of changes happened already in how you earn a living, how you make your money, what you spend it on, a sense of resource security, and stability. That’s a part of your life that you’re needing to completely reinvent. There’s a lot of new beginnings happening in that part of your life. Saturn and Uranus are making what’s called a square throughout 2021. You’re maybe going to see some friction in your life between the direction you’re taking and your social networks with what you value and your self-worth.

Your ruling planet, Mars, after six months in Aries, finally moves into Taurus on January 6. Uranus has already been in Taurus, making things a bit chaotic or interesting and showing you what is possible. Maybe you had a very different relationship with money two years ago compared to now. When Mars joins the mix, the story that’s been brewing in the background now comes to a head. It’s very personal for you because Mars is your planet. It may mean that in January 2021 you’re seeing some changes in income or in how you earn a living. Maybe you’re moving forward with some bigger changes that you’ve been making or thinking of making the past couple of years because it needed that next big burst of initiation. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I’m going to say its effects are different for each and every sign.
January’s astrology is not easy. After your planet, Mars, changes signs, it makes a square to Saturn on January 13. A week later, Mars makes what’s called a conjunction to Uranus on January 20. These could be two days where you’re really feeling some friction.

We also have a Capricorn New Moon on January 13. Capricorn is your career sign. It represents the top of your chart. It’s your place in the world. It’s the title after your name. It’s the ambitions that you reach for and the responsibilities that you hold. With Saturn recently in this area of your chart for the last three years, you were trying to answer a simple question: What do you want to be when you grow up? What title do you want after your name? How do you want the world to see you? What direction do you want to take your life? Even though that story went to the backburner because Saturn left Capricorn on December 17, it’s as if January is an echo or an epilogue. We’re in Capricorn season, though. The Sun is at the top of your chart. It’s about your place in the world. With a new moon, it’s new beginnings around career for you. This new moon is exactly conjunct Pluto. There’s something about this new moon that represents a very powerful new beginning in your professional life, a very powerful new direction you take. It could be how people see you or the title after your name.

It’s important to understand that whatever this new beginning is for you goes back many years, to the start of 2008 when Pluto went into Capricorn. If something does happen in your professional life, it’s not a standalone event. It either has been a long time coming or you’ve been planning for it or it’s an overdue change. Pluto speaks about how you need to find your power in the world. And Pluto also shows that when we are not in our power, other people will happily be in control. Keep that in mind if you’re dealing with power issues at work, or if you’re trying to find your voice or your place in the world this month.

We have a Leo Full Moon on January 28. It’s going to be at 9 degrees of Leo, and it is making what’s called a square to Uranus, Mars, and Saturn. You might find that the end of the month is putting a lot of pressure on you to change. In some way there is some friction between an old life and a new life. How do you resolve that friction? How do you build something new, knowing that it may mean having to upend something from the past? That friction, that pressure, will also give you the motivation to build something new. That could be a silver lining in all of this.
