Happy Gemini Full Moon! This is the time of the year when the spotlight’s on communication as well as the mind. As an air sign, Gemini teaches us how to connect, move, and learn. It’s also a curious sign that needs to try new things. Over the coming days, voice, education, curiosity, information, travel, and even choice will be highlighted. The full moon is exact on December 12, 2019 at 12:12 am EST. That’s 9:12 pm Los Angeles on December 11, 5:12 am London, 4:12 pm Sydney, and 6:12 pm Auckland.

Full moons are a time when things are illuminated. We see things for what they are are and, under the light of the full moon, we have to take action. With a full moon in Gemini, we’re more aware of our words and ideas, how we communicate and think. We may hear or see something that’s challenging. We need to make a decision about our education, travel, or communicating and thinking in a new way.

With Mercury, the ruler of the full moon, pointing us to Sagittarius, we need to be aware how our thoughts and ideas inform our beliefs. But there’s a beautiful reminder in the Gemini Moon. While Sagittarius has a wealth of wisdom at its disposal, it needs Gemini, its opposing sign, to periodically refresh its thinking and see things from a different perspective. And so we need to ask ourselves with this full moon, where do I need to refresh my thinking? What am I not seeing about a current situation? (Want to know what area of your chart the full moon is activating? Watch my Astrology of December 9-15, 2019 video update.)

It’s possible that we’ve fallen into a rut with our thinking or that we’re holding ourselves back in some way. Mercury in Sagittarius points us towards Jupiter in Capricorn along with the South Node of the Moon. Our thoughts and beliefs have structure, even if we can’t see it, and that structure can sometimes limit us. Thankfully Jupiter is trine Uranus in Taurus, which means that this full moon may turn on a lightbulb so to speak or give us an epiphany. Be open to profound or wildly new insights that help us to break out of old patterns and ruts.

Just as we have the full moon, Chiron turns direct in Aries, so there may be a deeper story emerging during this full moon week, a story that has repeatedly wound its way through different moments of our lives, a story that feels tender when pressed upon or examined. Chiron reveals our spiritual scar tissue, an area that we’re working to heal and resolve. How can you bring a new perspective — Gemini style – to a very old story? (Read more about Chiron in On Chiron, Suffering, and Knots.)

Do keep in mind that we’re two weeks away from a solar eclipse. Life is starting to get loud. We’re feeling things beginning to shift. If we’re watching a drama on the stage, then the curtain is beginning to come down. New actors are in the wings while others prepare to leave. The set will change, but the story will go on.

You can learn more about these upcoming eclipses and how they may manifest in your life on December 19 in my latest 90-minute webinar, The Eclipses of December 2019-January 2020.
