Welcome to the Capricorn Full Moon, the time in the zodiac calendar when the spotlight is on building for the future, setting goals, and working to achieve them. As the sign of matter and manifestation, Capricorn teaches us that things take time to grow and take shape and become real. The full moon is exact on June 24 at 2:40 pm EDT, 3 degrees Capricorn/Cancer. That’s 11:40 am Los Angeles, 7:40 pm London, 8:40 pm Johannesburg, 4:40 am Sydney on June 25, and 6:40 am Auckland.
The signs of Cancer and Capricorn form an axis. They are the archetypical Mother and Father, the internal and external world, home and career. If Cancer creates the support, then Capricorn builds upon this support. We also have to find the balance between the two. We can’t be so stuck at home that we don’t make something of ourselves in the world. But on the other side, we can’t be so consumed by our work and ambitions that we lose the very meaning and support that it all rests on.
That said, full moons create a sense of urgency. They demand action and decision. Something in our lives may be highlighted. And since it’s Capricorn, we may be preparing to step up, make a commitment, set a boundary, or restructure if something isn’t working.
This full moon is also the first full moon since last month’s lunar eclipse in Sagittarius. Although we’re not in eclipse season officially, this full moon may echo the eclipses’ transformative energy. So anything going on around the time of the full moon may coincide with a major milestone, event, or change in direction.
Let’s not forget that Saturn, the ruler of the full moon is still in its square to Uranus, which sort of piles onto any ripple of eclipse energy. As I’ve been saying all year long, in 2021, it’s as if we have one foot in a new life and a foot in an old life. This may be the week where we’re taking a step further into that new life.
Quietly tucked into this full moon is the Sun’s trine to Jupiter and the Moon’s sextile to Jupiter. New beginnings and the sometimes monumental change that comes with them requires faith and maybe a little luck, too. Nevertheless, we have an abundance of support to make a big step in our lives.
