With Mercury joining the Sun in Virgo plus Saturn turning direct in Capricorn, it’s all about element earth right now. And what is earth? The ground beneath our feel. It’s real life and the responsibilities that come with it. It’s money, resources, food, and the body.
If you dig deeper into the element earth — no pun intended — you’ll discover that it’s an element that is essential to living. Of course, all the elements are essential to life, but it’s the earth element, and by extension the earth signs of Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn, that help us to survive here in the physical world.
Sometimes we need to have a new relationship with an element so we can have a new relationship with a particular aspect of life. Do you struggle to feel the earth beneath your feet? Do you feel supported? Are you in your body or sort of floating around it? Today is a wonderful day, in honor of no-nonsense Virgo, to reconnect to element earth. Eat something not only nourishing, but something that is fresh from the earth, allowing yourself to really taste each bite of food. Honor your body through touch, massage, or self care. Go for a walk.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s update, Saturn turns direct at 2 degrees of Capricorn. Over the last five months, while it was retrograde, we’ve had to reflect as well as make the plans needed to act on what Saturn is asking of us while it’s in Capricorn. After all, Saturn is the planet of lessons, growth, and maturity. It’s the arbiter of karma, cause and effect, and it’s demanding that we take responsibility for a certain area of our life. (Not sure what area of that is? Read my Saturn in Capricorn: Sign by Sign guide.) If we play by Saturn’s rules and reach for its high standards, we are rewarded. If not, we are held accountable.
I know this is a little black and white, but that’s how Saturn operates. There are no gray areas of the planet. So today’s a sort of check in or a report card on how we’re doing. Have we been heeding Saturn’s lessons over the last five months? It’s never too late to start working with Saturn to rebuild and lift up a part of your life.
In other news, the Moon goes into Leo and we’re sliding into the dark of the moon, which is to say the final days of the lunar month that began on August 11. Since the lunar month began with a solar eclipse, it’s quite possible that the previous 28 days were marked by a change in direction in some way. It’s a day to reflect, gather our thoughts, and prepare for the next lunar month, which begins on September 9. A lot of things have been in a holding pattern over the last two months, but come next week things are going to change.
PS — Are you in the NYC area? I’m co-hosting a free introduction and meditation tomorrow, Thursday, September 6, to an event I’m co-leading next week. If you’re interested in learning about the energetic body, from chakras and subtle energies, and how to feel and connect with it, details her here in the Facebook invite and in the link below. Event is hosted at The Assemblage Nomad in Manhattan.
