In astrology Saturn has a very specific function. As the regulator time, Saturn sets the pace of our growth as both adolescence and adults. Saturn makes us mature, even when we’re dragged kicking and screaming, into the next phase.
Tomorrow, Venus and Saturn will line up to form a conjunction. It’s both an ending and a beginning, a time when Venus casts aside some of her carefree attitude to make a commitment or let something go. So if Venus speaks to relationships, values, and how we interact with another person, then Saturn is really pressing us to think long term. What do we want in a partner? What sort of standard do we want to set for all our relationships?
Even though, with the Moon in Libra today, a social sign, and activating Jupiter in Libra, we can’t forget Venus’s earthier Taurus polarity. What do we want to spend our money on? What sort of material life are we creating for ourselves? What’s going to help us feel secure for the future?
Although Saturn can come across as heavy or a bit black and white, I’m actually a big defender of Saturn because we need Saturn. We need milestones in our lives — graduations, first apartments, marriages, kids, new responsibilities. That said, we can’t overdo Saturn lest we become too rigid, cold, immune to life’s softer and gentler side.
Take time to reflect on your relationships today — all your relationships, not just the romantic ones. Define what you want. Define what you value. Set healthy boundaries.
